I am at my wits end and am convinced my game is glitched. I have had Patty in my town for literal months and she will not leave. Every single other villager I have has pinged me to leave at one point or another, but not Patty. I've wanted her gone for so long but she won't leave.

I've had several move-ins and move-outs since she moved into my town, I know that the most recent villager you get can't ping to move but she isn't my most recent. She's actually like the 2nd oldest in my town at this point.

My question is: Is it possible that Patty is glitched and simply won't ping me to leave? If that is the case I don't know what else to do but re-start my game. I've spent real life days upon days time traveling in my town to get her to move but it won't happen. It's ruining my town and bumming me out. Anyone else had anything like this happen?

So frustrated. Sigh.

I think it's just by chance? I don't think there's a glitch that'll cause that thing to happen omg....

Well, personally you know what i do? the way to make a villager move is the status level of your "friendship ladder" with that villager. if you pick on villagers like putting them in pitfalls and hitting them and stuff, thats just putting you in the friendship ladder, just with a low,low status. here, this video should explain a bit more into detail of this sort of matter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jIuEm8Bq9I hope this helps!

It's just that she's the same level as everyone else in town, I don't understand how it could make a difference at this point :[ I talk to everyone in my town on a regular basis, and I just recently started talking to her too thinking she wasn't moving because she was the only one in town I wasn't friends with >.< Grrr maybe I'll just have to keep going until she's gone...

I wouldn't care so much right now if I wasn't in the middle of doing a 16 villager cycle for Deirdre. It's just that Patty is one of the only two people in my town I can cycle through so it's extremely frustrating and it's taking daaaaaaaaaaays :[

Thanks for replying everyone...Just wanted to know if it was bad luck or a glitch

So she has never pinged to move? That's just unlucky, your game is not glitched.
You can try the 6 day forward/back method. I find this the most efficient way to get a villager to ping.
Okay so before you start, make sure that you have JUST denied a villager's request to move. You must start this method on the day that you told a villager to leave, otherwise you might screw the whole thing up.
By the way, it's recommended to do this on a week where there are no upcoming events such as a fish/bug competition, villager's birthday, event, etc. as these may interrupt the moving process for a villager.

1) Save and quit on the day that you told someone to stay
2) Go 6 days ahead
3) Save and quit
4) Go back 6 days in one go
5) Check around your town to see who wants to leave
6a)If it's the right villager, yup, they're finally leaving
6b) If it's the wrong villager, tell them to stay. Rinse and repeat this cycle
Or they're just anchored in your town and are extremely stubborn. Had that happen with Bunnie in my cycle town, she was there as a starter.

Either way, don't give up. I had Flora and Friga in my first town that absolutely refused to move no matter how many times I tried to use the 6 days method to get them out.
Best of luck though.

Is this a safe method? If it is this would be amazing, but I have 8 permanent villagers in my town at the moment and would hate to lose one :[

This had happened to be before too. Bill was in my town for the longest time to the point where I thought he'd never leave. The game just randomly picks a villager who will get moved out of town, your game just has bad luck hitting Patti's game code

I guess that's what it must be, it just makes me so mad >:[ Haha but I'm sure a lot of people have felt this frustration at some point or another

I had that same issue with snake, but I did this and it worked flawlessly:
Create a new villager, go introduce yourself to every single villager, than talk to all of them again, EXCEPT for who you want to move out.
for 7 days, go and talk to all villagers except the one villager you want to move out at least once. On the 7th (or maybe 8th) day, that villager will ping you to move.

I'll have to try this out, seems like it may work :o Both suggestions actually seem like they could work, I just don't know which is less likely to lose a wanted villager XD

Trust me with this one. i spent weeks trying to get snake out, and nothing worked. I read about this one online, and worked perfectly for me.
The new villagers has a clean slate with all villagers. So if you make friends with everyone else, but ignore the unwanted villager for 7 days, the game will kick him/her out! :)

Make sure your Mayor talks to your favourite villagers every single day. It really does save your dreamies from running away on you because they will always ping you if your are talking to them often.

This will be great, when you did it did your other villagers ping you at all?

I always do, it sort of made me think the problem was me ignoring Patty because everyone who I talked to regularly would ping me to leave, just not her >.< I thought I needed to talk to her for her to ask to leave :P

Uhhhh maybe one did on the fourth day,i can't remember, but since you go and talk to everyone you obviously say no, but it is guaranteed on that 7th day the villager will ping you to move, just make sure you never talk to him/her otherwise

Thank you so much for posting this, I had never heard of it :o
Should I go on my main character each day as well or do you stay strictly on the new character?

Also, just to be clear so I don't mess this up, on the first day you introduce yourself to everyone including the unwanted villager then proceed to ignore them?

same thing happened too me. just wait it out, make sure your on friend-terms with her, otherwise she wont ping you as much

I didn't go on my mayor, you should be fine. Yes introduce yourself to EVERYONE, then talk to everyone EXCEPT the unwanted villager! :)
I understand the struggle, so I want to give this idea to whom I can, so they don't have the frustration I had

I just checked this in the morning so sorry for the late reply
As long as you do the method correctly, and manage to find the villager that wants to move, you'll be fine.

If you're still worried, after TT'ing back 6 days (step 4) you can set the 3DS Clock to one year ahead. Load up your game and create a New Save File. Go through Rover's dialogue and then check the map to see if there are any house plots missing. If there is, then that means someone wanted to move after you went back 6 days. In that case, exit without saving and set the clock back to normal. Load up your character and stand in front of the villager whose house disappeared 'in the future' because that will be the one that want to move. If no house plots were missing, that means no one wanted to move at this stage.

I had 9 Dreamies in my town while I was doing this to get Flora/Friga out, so just make sure you do it correctly c:
And after you load up from Step 4, the villager will notify you that they will be gone in 4-5 days so that gives plenty of time to get them to refuse.

Since I see a lot of people dropping their cycling methods, this is how I did mine. I had a similar case?? where Margie refused to leave my town and I had 8 permanents, just like you. It took me forever (almost two weeks irl if I recall, months in-game) to get her to ping and leave, so... I wish you the best of luck!

clicky!
