QR question!

So I have 2 people who have unlocked the QR machine and I recently created a third character, but it doesn't seem she can unlock it? She gets the same response everyday when she talks to Sable?

So can you only have 2 people with the QR machine unlocked or something?
If so, that's just really unfair and stupid...

You can unlock it on every character. Is your gate open when you talk to her? That might be why she's unresponsive

Have each human buy, buy, buy all the clothing articles on display, on any given day, from The Able Sisters. Do this for days at a time. (I don't know if seven game dates have to pass. So, I'll leave that be?.) Eventually, this will loosen up Sable and then you will be able to have that human gain access to 'Sewing Machine.' (It will also earn a human at least one mannequin.)

I meant to include the following: Using my first town, Applewin, as an example…the three humans [Mayor Jill as well as Nick and Kathy] all have access. Jill has the dominant town path for her storage; Nick has notable pieces connected to businesses [Re-Tail Shop and The Roost Caf?]. Kathy has ten pieces which comprise the ballpark on the eastern side of Applewin.

I don't think you really have to buy anything (or at least, not much) because I restarted the side character I use for paths and I haven't made her buy anything that I can remember. If your gate is closed, it's still normal to get the same "..." line when you talk to Sable on the first days, it takes 3 days or so for her to start talking to your character. Have you been time travelling a lot (especially using that character)? I've read before that if you time travel just to unlock the sewing machine, the game stops you from doing that, though I haven't tested it.
