I know people have off-handedly mentioned different methods for forcing PWP requests.
I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind explaining those few methods to me.
Thanks in advance!

Make sure you have no bells on you so villagers won't try to sell things.
Fill your pockets with junk that villagers won't want to buy such as shells so they won't buy things or try to give you things.
Don't talk to a villager for 5 mins or so. Go fishing or diving!
Walk in front of all of your villagers and one will ping you. It might take a few attempts because they might ask you to change their catchphrase or ask a silly question.

I've had most success with this when I've had a pwp in progress. I had one going for 3 days and in those 3 days one of my villagers requested 3 pwps from me. Since I finished it I haven't had one request. :c

I wonder if that last bit was a coincidence

If your inventory is full, they won't try to sell you anything, regardless of how much money you have on you :) I personally fill my pockets with 100 bell coins and I haven't yet had any money related requests.

If you are after certain PWP projects, it would be best to only accept pings from certain personality types and ignore the other pings. Also, if you don't like the PWP suggested you can reset and try again if you are up for it.

Also I agree with keeping 5 mins away from your villagers and doing something like fishing or swimming and fill your pockets with tools and seashells and carry no money on you.

Keep your pockets empty. My villagers seem a little jittery or even mad when they approach me. They think I can suggest the PWP then realize they need to go to Isabelle.

I keep doing this but they just want a new catchphrase or a new name to call me :( any ideas on how to get them to NOT want those things??

last time i got 4 pwp requests in just couple days.
i don't have idea what i was doing. but at that time it was indeed i was having pwp to be built.
so far the villagers that suggested me pwp are the ones that i talked to a lot before.

Sorry :( The reason you can cut them off from item/money related pings because it would be physically impossible when you have your pockets full. I don't see any way to prevent anything else.

Fill pockets with tools and flowers
Go swimming and stay there for 5 minutes. Swimming resets the ping and the villagers shouldn't see you for 5min.
Run in front of your villagers. 100% chance they will ping.

I know the asking to change their catchphrases can be annoying. It seems less annoying/time consuming if you do something else to make the 5 minutes go by quicker. Reading a book during the intervals/going on here

today shari pinged me for a windmill
i have the town hall PWP up, and i went down to my beach and stuffed my pockets with my tools and shells (dropped off money)

i stood on the beach for about 5 minutes, and i ran in front of shari and *ping* :o

i don't know if i was just lucky for once or what though.

Testing the theory of getting more pwp requests while funding for a pwp is in progress! I started up the lighthouse project yesterday and I have a bit of free time so let's see how this goes :) For reference I'm carrying 0 bells and my inventory is full of flowers. I'll edit this as I get more

First ping: Felicity asked to test out her psychic powers on me
Second ping: Tammy showed me a letter from her old town
Third ping: Bones asked me a silly question about string
Fourth ping: Tammy tried to give me a nickname
Fifth ping: Ricky asked for a greeting
Sixth ping: Felicity asked me if she's still cute
Seventh ping: Zell asked a question

So far I don't think there's any connection between having a pwp being built and getting requests... or maybe I'm just unlucky.

Honestly. I just fill my pockets with shells, run off the cliff and dive. Check the ingame time. Go do something inrl, come back. Run around, ping. Repeat.

I think I'd go crazy waiting for 5 minutes to pass each time. Also I usually do like 7 minutes just ot be safe. And if you do it for longer durations make sure to talk to a villager once in awhile so they can tell you to take a break because I don't think they ping you when they're like that.

I'm not sure this is true, but I have a perfect town and I get 1 request daily from a villager...
Does having a perfect town affect getting suggestions?

My town has the worst rating and I'm still getting suggestions very quickly. I think it might be best to assume the whole suggestion ping is purely luck.

I've had a perfect town for over a month, and I very rarely get pwp requests. Plenty of nicknames, though.
