PWP Requests on Tourney days?

I was just curious if anyone has gotten a PWP request on a day that a fishing/bug tourney has taken place. I know that villagers won't ping until the tournament is over at 6PM, but I'm curious if they will suggests public works projects in light of the fact that they can't be built on special days.

Edit: Strike that! Just got a suggestion from Rudy. I can confirm that PWPs *can* be suggested on special event days.
