PWP ping problem

My villagers never ask for a pwp, and I want some of them badly. Ive been doing the water thing trick, and I do get pings. but theyre never for pwp, just to change their nickname or something. Help?

Thats totally normal, just keep at it! Make sure your pockets are full with items like flowers and seashells and you have no money on you!

once a villager pings you for clothing/catchphrase/moving. You can "save and quit," load into the game once more and walk around for pings. You don't have to wait for 5 minutes.

Sometimes you run around after you come out of the sea and they don't even ping you at all.. I hate that the most. <_<
