Purple Pansies?

I'm trying to breed some purple pansies, and people say that the method consists of taking two red pansies bred from blue pansies. My question is this: do those red pansies have to be bred from TWO blue pansies? Or can they be bred from one red and one blue? Ahh it's so confusing!

I bred mine by following the steps below. I got it from the sites here


Step 1:
Use one of the following combinations to create "Hybrid Red Pansies", or Red Pansies that have an Orange, Purple, and/or Blue parent.
Hybrid Red Pansy = Orange and Red Pansy
Hybrid Red Pansy = Purple and Red Pansy
Hybrid Red Pansy = Blue and Red Pansy


Step 2:
Create Purple Pansies with one of the following combinations:
Hybrid Red Pansy and Hybrid Red Pansy
Yellow Pansy and Hybrid Red Pansy
Purple and Purple Pansy (Best combination)
