About a week ago, Puck moved into my town after my friend came over to visit. I was interested to meet Puck, but when he finally moved in, his catchphrase "brrrr" was changed to a swear. It's obvious that my friend changed it when Puck used to live in his town. Is it possible that I could get into trouble from something I didn't do, and if so, any way to get him to stop?

You can get him to stop
Just go to isabelle and report it, she will change it back to the original catchphrase

Go to town hall and tell Isabelle you have a troublesome villager. She'll reset Puck's catchphrase back to default.

Go to Town Hall and talk to Isabelle at the front desk. Tell her about problematic citizens, say that Puck is troubling you, and mention that he has naughty language. This resets their dialogue back to their original phrase.

Thank you very much. I will try this out at once.

EDIT: It seems like it worked! His catchphrase now is "uh-huh". Thanks!

You'll have to change his catchphrase to his original.
"uh-huh" is the catchphrase that Isabelle changes it to.

Mmmmh... Interesting...
so I'm guessing that you could change all the villagers' catchphrases to the same thing, "uh-huh" lol

Yeah, she'll always change the catchphrase to "uh-huh" and the shirt to the blue gym tee. I miss the days that it'd go to the default settings. I don't want to PUNISH my villagers, I just want them to go back to normal.

I didn't know that it didn't get reset to normal :( Hope I never inherit a villager who I have to complain about then if they don't just go back c:
