okay so i have an old ps3. literally the first batch that ever came out, that huge, ugly, chubby one that plays the ps2 games. my dad got it from his friend who's son had shoved coins and disks and everything into the disk drive and it had to be fixed up, which the fact that it had been messed about with could be a reason for my problem.

the thing is, i can't even play it for half an hour without it burning up. i play it in a small room downstairs, and even with the window open that thing could light a fire in there. literally, you can feel sweat on your forehead thanks to the heat that comes out of that thing. i was wondering, do all the old ps3s do this? or is it because mines has been messed about with?

The fan is probably full of dust so it's not doing its job. It may be the fact it's been messed around with but if it has only just started to do this I would attempt to take it apart to clean the fan! If that's not your kind of thing I'm sure somebody would be willing to help you. It happened with my old laptop and as soon as I cleaned the fan it didn't overheat in the first 5 minutes.

Good luck :)

thank you!! i will try that (ㅇㅅㅇ❀)

The older fat ps3 had issues with overheating back in the day which would eventually cause a "yellow light of death" scenario. Like what the previous poster mentioned you should try and use canned compressed air to clean any dust that might of build up near the exhaust fan and possibly

Definitely this. Avoid using any sort of vacuum cleaner, I've seen guides recommend using them. It will essentially speed up the thing's death.

You just need to clean it. My friend is selling his Wii. Maybe you are interested of it. Police and news agencies are reporting an increased amount of door-to-door frauds across the nation. There may be a bigger number of operators trying to rip people off, so be wary of anyone knocking on the door and trying to sell you stuff.

Legit.

Uh, I'd say try to clean it?
