Problem with Hybrids

I have been getting a hybrid every day using fertilizer. Sometimes, I got two and once I think I got three. Then I got the golden shovel. I was under the impression that would increase hybrids. Since I got the golden shovel, I have have had no more hybrids. Last night, I started a new hybrid patch isolated on the beach, used fertilizer and the golden shovel, and watered with the silver watering can. Again there were no more hybrids.

Actually on one day I did find an orange lily standing in the middle of nowhere, but that's about it.

Am I not following the correct procedure with a golden shovel?

My town is currently perfect and has been that way for 6 days. I am working towards the golden watering can.

Well, I'm not sure hybrids even grow on the beach. At least not very often.
Also, the golden shovel doesn't have anything to do with hybrids...but you can try to grow a money tree! Just burry 30K and there's a good chance it'll grow bells!
Otherwise, make sure to just water the flowers you want to hybridizeidizesdfsdsfsdf lol, ok do-over...the flowers you want to make hybrids out of.

Oh and set your town to beautiful town if you have the bells to do so.

The golden shovel doesn't help with hybrids, but you can use it to plant bags of money and they will grow money tree's.

Hybrids do grow on the beach also.

I run a hybrid shop and I work on only breeding the flowers that I need, and only watering the ones that can breed to make whatever order it is with a golden watering can. I also have the beautiful town ordinance so hybrids are more likely to be bred and flowers dont wilt, unfortunately you can't get golden roses.

I don't think golden shovels help with hybrids? But anyways I've had really good hybrid days and then I wouldn't get one for weeks, even when I use fertiliser. So maybe you're just unlucky? I doubt it's a glitch.

I have 2 towns, one town has perfect status and the other doesn't. Each town seems to go thru times where hybrids grow great and then a lull. I don't use fertilizer in either town.

Golden shovels only make money trees; they have nothing to do with hybrids.

That answers my questions well. I am not online that much about the game and wasn't aware golden shovels did not help with hybrids. I also didn't know hybrid production went through phases. Now that one forum member mentions it, I think I did well with pink roses on a beach section, but I think my best hybrid production came from a grassy area. Possibly I confused, too, the recommendation to wilt black flowers on the beach. Thank you all for the input.
