I know this sounds silly....but you can safely have two ACNL cartridges and use them on the same 3ds right?
I don't know how it handles stuff on the SD card, and far as I've known it uses the SD card to match up save data to keep you from screwing with it... so does it handle that differently per cart? I've constantly considered getting another cart but I was a bit worried it would be weird about it.

Also, what happens if you put it in another 3ds? (I'd be playing on my own but I would probably end up wanting to move villagers between the two) Would that mess with save data? My niece once offered to let me play her AC on my 3ds and it hadn't occurred to me after I declined that it might get weird looking for things on the sd card...

Any clarification would be nice xD and much appreciated! Let me know if I need to try and make more sense |D;;

Thanks all :3

Yes. You can have 58538592 cartridges and safely play each town with no problem.
Nothing happens when it's in another 3DS. It uses that town's data. So if you got a new 3DS, you can load this current town on this new one and the previous one and it will be okay.

Physical copies save to the game cart not the SD card, but the in-game pictures you take do save to the SD card. The only weirdness you might have is if you have uploaded your town at the Dream Suite and then use another 3ds to update the town, you'll get a new Dream Address.

I used to have two towns/two cartridges on one DS (before my boyfriend took my extra copy), and it worked just fine. However, when I got a really good turnip price on one town and switched it to another DS so I could trade in between my two copies, that turnip price switched from 500+ to less than a 100, so I guess the turnip pattern was reset. Just an experience I had I thought I'd share.

You can have infinitely many cartridges on one 3DS. However, you can only have 1 digital per 3DS.

I have switched DSes during the same day and nothing has reset. Is it possible you checked the second time after noon? The price changes then, and usually goes down.
