When you started your current town or when restarting a new town, what are your first priorities in the town (after you get the permit approval)? Do you try to pay off your house and upgrade it as fast as possible? Do you buy as much stuff so you can fill out your catalog? Do you concentrate on public works projects? I can never decide myself. I tend to flip flop between house upgrades and public works projects. I've restarted 4 times and each time I've always put a suspension bridge up first, and then either a cobblestone or suspension bridge right after that. Then I pay off my house, then do another public works project. Then house upgrade. Etc. But I feel like my progress is really slow doing it this way. What do you guys do?

Bridges is the first thing I did in both my towns. I always find it inconvenient to walk long roads. Then in my main town I expanded my house quite a bit before doing some PWPs like fountains, etc. So I think I am in the same process as you? I find it slow too, but I don't think there is a faster way unless there's more money to spend.

I always build another bridge, then I work on my path. I always put a path so I can plan out my town. Then I work on getting series for my house. Once I get a full series I make another room and work on another series.

Since I'm not a big fan of plot resetting, I tend to place my first PWPs where I definitely don't want villagers moving in even before I build bridges (in front of my house, in front of other permanent buildings, etc.)
I really don't upgrade my house until I run out of room, so besides making the main room as big as it can get + adding a second floor, I don't expand it unless I need to.

Also beautiful town ordinance before any of that because I have way too many flowers

I restarted last week.

First priority is getting in as many dream villagers as I can, beautiful town ordinance, getting past the tedious tutorials and opening up the shops.

On the side I'm planning out my town and expanding my house. Pretty soon I'll move in the secondary residents.

Encyclopedia and catalog have been put aside for now. Still working on them but not as much.

I always go for bridges first, as it makes running around so much easier. After that I plan out the paths and put down the simple town projects that I can like lights and fountains. I also make sure to keep spending money at T&T to upgrade the store as quickly as I can.

I save up a bunch of bells and like the others I build a bridge first specially if the bridge that comes with the map isn't in a good spot. -_- I enact an ordinance, catch bugs and fish and donate them first to the museum, save more bells because I have to upgrade my house and I plan out my paths, once the gardening store opens I get an axe and cut down most trees that I think are in the way and get main street upgrades.

For me, I focus on building bridges/major PWP buildings (The Roost, lighthouse, dream suite, etc.).

But my mainnn priority is getting all my dream villagers. It's a bit hard, but I like having all of my dream villagers before I do any final work on my town. That way I know nobody will move in and mess up what I had/ had started planning for. It also makes everything else more enjoyable for me. c:

While building a bridge is clearly a common thing, one thing you need to remember about the bridges is that there are four styles you have to unlock, and if you demolish a bridge to replace it with a different style, it needs more space which leads to some issues if you have other things nearby.

That sort of thing is why I went for the Campsite first and held off on putting in my second bridge until 9/10 of my villagers moved in. I wanted to make sure I would be able to swap it out later, and not get too attached to a location I won't be able to use later.

Oh my! The style of bridge takes different space? Thank you so much. I tried to do exactly this and just put the bridge elsewhere. Now I will try a different style!

Hmm...I usually start on my house with designing and upgrading, then PWPs (usually the more significant ones like the bridges), then I do some town work like paths and orchards, and then my Dreamies (although I'm not that far yet!). :)

Sorry for the thread bump, but I've been down for a few days lol

I don't know if different styles have different spaces requirements, but say you have a bridge right next to a building...you demolish the bridge in order to put a new one there....Isabelle will most likely tell you it's too close to the building even if you just had a bridge there.

PwPs and villagers are usually my highest priority in new towns. I like to spend the first days mapping out where all the potential PwPs can go and save up some Bells, so I can buy my villagers online, if needed.
