Hi all,
I spent a good two hours yesterday covering my island in bells and various trash, feeling particularly inspired by this reddit post.

"I will cover every tile in my island! That way, each rock will be forced to spawn in the areas I set aside for them!", I foolishly thought.

Now I know how Caesar felt, betrayed by his most trusted friend.

Alas, not a single rock spawned on my island last night. I'd like to think I did something right, however, because my money tree glowing spot spawned right where a rock was supposed to.

I should mention that I broke every rock except for one yesterday. The area in the picture below is split into two regions, because I heard that six rocks can't spawn in the same grid section (not that it should matter right now since I only have one rock).

Are rocks able to spawn on paths? That may be your issue although I'm not sure.

If you see the photo in the reddit post I linked, you'll see that rocks can spawn on dark dirt paths, which I used:

Yep, rocks can spawn on dirt and dark dirt paths and maybe sand as well.

Afaik a rock SHOULD spawn at least once a day as long as theres a spot for them to spawn.

Try removing the fences? They take up a lot of squares iirc. Maybe dump bells in their spots instead and see if the rocks spawn then.

Looked a second time and... post cancelled. I'm a fool.

I knew rocks could spawn right next to flowers, but I didn't know they could spawn in a 3x3 grid filled with obstacles (in this case, bells).
Oh god, I covered my entire island with them and it doesn't work?
Can I swear on this forum?
I want to swear.

I think it may be the cliffs, not sure but saw someone who had a cliff in front of 1 rocks place they wanted and it never spammed while all others did..... until they deleted the cliff

Only one rock will spawn a day, so it's best to wait until you have all six, then destroy one each day.

I might demolish more cliffs so the rocks won't have to spawn so close to the edge. I'm feeling really tempted to time travel for the first time, but I have like 300 turnips sitting on my island that I don't want to spoil. F

Yeah...I was thinking of doing that, but then I heard about just dropping bells all over your island which would be faster. I figured when I was done, I could just hire a bunch of random people to pick up the dropped bells for free. But I'm thinking, in retrospect, mannequins are probably more reliable since they're placed items.

you only have to place a mannequin every 4th slot and you can easily make them disappear. While its more tedious and harder to check whether youve placed them in the right spots, its quicker to get rid of
