Apparently, people stopped caring about a popularity list, and now it’s free for all.
Hopefully when AC Switch comes out the popularity list revives.

Oh okay , yeah that would be nice. I really want new characters. I also hope the rv characters like marty will be avalible to get without amiibo
Yeah, most people have a lot of amiibo cards and they charge a flat rate regardless of whether a certain villager is popular or not. It requires the same amount of effort to scan and box a popular villager as an unpopular one, after all. I have a feeling that a popularity list for AC Switch will largely depend on whether or not amiibo cards work the same way.

After amiibo support happened, pretty much everyone dropped the tier list due to the ability to get a villager easier.
I prefer it this way, as it is easier for people to get their dreamies, but it can be bad for those who run those shops.
I'm hoping AC Switch uses them as well, so people can still get their dreamies without too big of a hassle.

I like the old fashion way earning and trading villagers. Im not a fan of these amiibo cards
I agree with you, im also not too much of a fan of amiibo cards, but use them regardless

I can understand that for sure. I own a few myself. They are convenient to have if you have your characters you want, but can get super costy fast.
I'm sure we will see a fresh tier list, as we are likely to meet some new animals in Switch!
I feel like the amiibo cards makes it too easy attain a villager that you want, but you're right they are really convenient

Yeah i get that. Just as a community i feel like trading villagers has gone down , maybe its just me
It's definitely not just you, i feel the same way as well it felt like villagers became less of a big deal when the amiibo update came since it was just so easy to get them. It also kind of killed of the cycling threads, since i barely see one anymore
I don't mind the Amiibo cards, but they can be kinda a pain to get that specific villager card. I prefer getting my villagers the old fashion way too. When you get them the old fashion way and not with the Amiibo cards, you feel a more sense of completion and hard work putting into getting the villager you want. With the Amiibo cards, it kinda kills that hard work feeling. The Amiibo cards are still fun to collect though, so I hope they bring them back. I'm still not sure if I would use them though, as I'm still deciding what to do. I would love to see the villager popularity list come back as well.

Naw, before the whole Amiibo card thing I'd be able to get villagers pretty easily. Now it seems to be more difficult because people aren't cycling as much, and just rely on their cards.. and people don't have the less popular villagers.
I've been search for Elmer for almost a week, prior to Welcome Amiibo I'd probably have found him in a random cycling town by now.
I agree with this, it does kill that feeling. It's almost the same for obtaining items throu giveaways or trade services on forum sites like this one. It doesn't have quite that sense of accomplishment. Not to say I haven't tried (God I've tried) but to this day I can say nearly everythin was obtained in my towns- items, villagers, nearly all my good tools, was got from hard work and elbow grease.
That being said, I still do use the meek collection of cards I have, because I WANT them to stay.
Yep. Does kill the feeling. I wish I had kept my very first town of Oceana that I made the day New Leaf came out, but I was stupid and kept starting over for the last six years. Hopefully I can change that in the next game. If the popularity list comes back, I'll be sure to check if my favorite villagers are on there. I just want to learn to work hard again. .-.
