poll: what kind of decorations go on your Christmas tree (multiple choice)

I'm interested to hear about different customs from around the world for how people decorate their Christmas trees.

I remember as a boy people put up strings of popcorn and cranberries, but I never see anyone doing that anymore, it's mostly store-bought ornaments I'd say.

Who would put real candles on their tree? It sounds pretty dangerous...

Anyway, my mum always puts all sorts of stuff on our tree. Lights, tinsel, a load of other decorations... and a lil star on top. c:

We usually just put baubles on the tree and like little fake gingerbread men and other random hand-made decorations we have accumulated over the years through various visits to shops and craft fayres. xD Don't put tinsel on it or any beads, and of course we put glowing lights on the tree, not multi-coloured or anything. We put chocolates and candy canes on too but they end up disappearing eventually... And we usually put a star on the top of our tree, but our tree this year is so tall it almost touches the ceiling so instead we got a little snowman tree topper to put on it instead. xD

I have a rug under my tree and in addition to that, we also have ornaments based off of shows and stuff. I have a Invader Zim ornament from McDonald's. :T

Mostly totally random ornaments (Frodo Baggins and such). I have never used boring glass balls. I used to always have an angel on top but I got tired of spiders camping up her dress so I got a star instead.

We have tinsel, shatterproof ornaments of all colors and shapes, homemade ornaments, and things that aren't homemade but I don't remember where they're from. Our lights don't blink, but they're colorful and WHO PUTS CANDLES ON A TREE. JUST. I CAN'T EVEN.
And our topper is a rather old star. It's got paint wear from age... We used to put an angel when I was a kid but I don't know why we stopped that.
And when I was a kid I think we out candy canes??? I don't think we do anymore though.

Our tree doesn't have any kind of theme, all the decorations are completely different - some of the ornaments are hideous lmao but my mam won't let us throw them away, so we continue to use them every year

Our tree has had the same ornaments and stuff on it for the past 10 years or so. There's some pretty red/green/gold glass ball ornaments then the rest of the tree is covered in stuff my sister or I made when we were really little, ornaments with pictures of family and passed on pets, lots of different Christmas themed ornaments, and an angel on the very top.

My mom used to work for Hallmark which sells a ton of Christmas ornaments during the holidays so we always got a ton of ornaments around this time of year and I would always get the horse/rocking horse ornaments as gifts. Not really sure why since I was never a big fan of horses.

I enjoy decorating our tree with home-made ornaments, especially ornaments my kids made when they where little. It's those that hold such sentimental value and can never be replaced.
