Police station quistion

Am I the only one who can get stuff from the police station, or do villagers pick stuff up from it too like the retail?

Just wondering, villagers hoarding pitfalls....

I'm pretty certain only playable characters can take stuff from the lost and found. ^^

Only you can. Villagers can't buy anything of their own free will.
