I've always loved Pokemon & have been playing it my whole life, but ever since the newer ones have came out I have been holding back a bit xP I'm so used to the older games like Fire Red & Emerald that when they started coming out with new Pokemon & new features I wasn't a big fan. I did buy Diamond & Pearl, but that's the furthest I've gotten, haven't bought anything after that lol.
Lately however, I was thinking about giving a newer game a try, & maybe I will like it So I went to the store & looked at Pokemon X/Y since that's the newest game right now..I didn't buy it but I'm thinking about it. Anyway, do you think I should buy it? Is it worth it? I'm curious to hear you guy's opinions
Yes you should! Its by far one of greatest uses of the 3D feature. The graphics are amazing for the 3ds and breeding is easier than ever. Honestly anyone who didnt expirence this game is truely missing out.
You really should buy it! It's my absolute fave from all the pokemon games, even I didn't like the story as much as in some older games. I love the graphics and there's so much stuff to do even after completing the game.
I agree with FireNinja. The story is kinda boring and stuff but the things you see and the new features you can play with are just amazing. The scenery and some of the buildings are stunning, so much so that my art project was inspired by the Shalour City building. A lot of people give me hate for saying it's my favourite generation of Pok?mon, but why shouldn't it be when I can see all my favourite Pok?mon more real than I've ever been able to see them before. The new Pok?mon are pretty sweet too, my personal favourites being Hawlucha and Gourgeist.
The battle effects are great to look at and they're made to fit all of the Pok?mon. You can battle online in different types of battles and it's really enjoyable.
Don't miss out, because it's so much fun to play and trade and battle.
It's worth it for the friend safaris and the online (to a point). Not as good as White 2 was though . That had a better post story and more of a chance to raise your team faster.
You should definitely buy it! I would recommend Y to you, because everyone has X.
If the story was a bit bland, you could always do the Looker Sidequest. That's short, but it was interesting for me.
After you finish all aspects to the story, why not go item hunting? I traveled all over the Kalos region with my dowsing machine, and talked to everyone. I didn't realize how many items I had missed!
After that, I started working with the battle systems. IV's and EV's can and are time consuming, but it does help pass the time when you're bored or something. That's what I do, and I'm starting to win more and more battles with my new team.
Completing the Pokedex is another fun challenge. It takes a while, and relies almost entirely on trading for the National Dex. However, I think it's fun. I only have around ~20 pokemon to go before I complete the three Kalos Dexes, and about 300 to complete the national. Not nearly as much as it seems(and it already seems a ton). I'm trying to complete my three kalos dexes so I can get the Oval Charm, which helps with my IV Breeding and even Masuda Method! The National Dex gives you the Shiny Charm, which improves your rates to find a shiny! Shinies sell for around ~75-150 TBT on here, so it's a good way to fill up your balance.
Which brings me to my next point, shiny hunting. Time-consuming, but i think it's worth the effort. Some of the pokemon look nice(greninja) or just plain cute(fennekin).
November 21 is right after my birthday! :3 I think I know what I'm spending my birthday money on

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I love Pokemon so much & have been attached to my Soul Silver (DS) for a long time haha but it's far past completion so it's about time to start a new game. I am still not sure if I should get this game or wait for the next..
I'm curious about the 3 starting Pokemon for OR & AS..are they the same as the original? o:
if you wanna experience the new pokemon and enhanced wifi battles/easier breeding then definitely go for it. like what everyone else said, the storyline is pretty bland (but not as bland as r/b/y) and there's nothing to do after you beat the main storyline besides the looker missions which are pretty interesting. overall i'd recommend it, because it's still pretty fun despite the cons.
Story wise, I'd say Black and White are definitely the best. X/Y isn't so strong plot wise, in fact it's kinda like diamond/pearl and some previous titles where a villain tries to take over the world for no apparent reason and needs a legendary, blah blah. B/W's story somewhat follows this recipe, but has a little twist to it .
But if you want to play competitively, I'd say go for it. But if you're really hesitant, I guess you could wait for Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. And yes, you get the hoenn starters in OR/AS, and they can mega evolve. You probably get the matching megastone upon choosing.
Tbh I think everyone's being too harsh on X/Y's plot. It wasn't about taking over the world, that was a side consequence if anything. There were very different motives at play there than in DPPt (which wasn't taking over the world so much as...nihilism disguised as world domination, if I recall aright, but it's been ages) and B/W. I haven't played B/W2, so I won't speak as to those.
Team Flare - or at least its leader's original intent, not the way the grunts and admins perceived, corrupted, and portrayed it to be - was an extremely interesting team, as was AX's presence and the dichotomy between the leader's beliefs and what AX's actions eventually proved to be true.
(I have feelings about X/Y okay guys I could probs write essays on it)
But yes, definitely go for it. AS and OR are going to be AMAZING, (Hoenn WOOT), but X and Y are pretty great. The region is gorgeous, the new Pok?mon are a blast (ugh hello let me tell you about the wonders of CARBINK and it's also very pretty shiny), and breeding is so easy. It's wonderful.
Disappointed in the aftergame? Ehhhh I have been disappointed in every aftergame since Emerald tbh.
Buy it. Pok?mon has never been about the story. Its all about the gameplay and this one has the best gameplay yet since now its incredibly easy to get into IV breeding and the online is excellent.
