Pokémon Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet General Discussion

Unfortunately, it seems that people have been scalping these free codes, at least in the US, and are selling them online. As such, it might be better to try to get to your local Gamestop sooner than later and see if they still have any available.
This is true, I checked with all the Gamestops around my area yesterday and they were all out of them. On the first day of the distribution. Very frustrating, I really wanted one of these :(

It didn't help with the TCG releasing cards and the distribution for Scarlet and Violet on the same day. TCG customers camp at the parking lot to get TCG cards. Customers arriving just for the Scarlet/Violet codes were told to stand in line. It looks like stores only received 50 Scarlet/Violet Codes. On release day a Twitch streamer was trading the Shiny Legendary for a regular Pokemon for free. The Legendary Shiny Pokemon weren't from codes or hacked.

Unfortunately encountered this myself today when I tried, as I couldn't get there Friday or yesterday. None in my area either and I was the 47th to inquire about it according to their running tally.

Kind of absurd that they only had 50 cards per store, especially with them releasing on the same day as a TCG release. I've been going to get these codes for various events for many years now and this is the first incident of this sort that I've encountered.

Hopefully The Pokémon Company and Gamestop can figure out a way to get more of these codes out to stores, with enough time before the "distribution" concludes on the 15th. Hopefully The Pokémon Company can move toward a different method of distribution moving forward where this sort of issue can't happen. Unfortunately they will probably still do collaborations with Gamestop and other stores as they have throughout the years, but maybe they can either just make a bunch of cards or print them out on receipts or something. I recall them doing a phone app distribution once where you scan a QR code, maybe do that again.

It doesn't help matters that the card code is only good for one of them, either Koraidon or Miraidon, so even if you are fortunate enough to get a card, you have to choose.

What a bother all around.

I missed out too all because I had to work. If anyone has both, I would like to borrow them for maybe an hour just to register them into my main saves and Home purposes and I promise to give them back as soon as I’m done. I mainly wanted them because they were Shiny and it’s the only way to get them.

This is almost as bad the Newsletter incident involving Zarude I believe where thousands of players never got their codes despite being signed up to receive newsletters from the Pokémon website. I know that I never got mine and I had signed up for the newsletter for years.

I had only had the in-store events in mind at the time, but now that you mention it, I think I was impacted by that since my e-mail I had linked at the time was an MSN hotmail account and for some reason, the Pokémon newsletter had issues with successfully delivering to those.

I wish they'd keep things simple and just distribute everything through Mystery Gifts, but alas, gotta have business tie-ins and incentives.

I skipped the last few Events cards because I don't like crowds and can usually get one weeks after the release. It looks like I wouldn't be getting one when I pick up ZA. Just before Scarlet and Violet came out there were lots of Event Cards left in November 2022 at EB Games Canada. For Sun/Moon there were so many leftovers and the staff gave out extras.
