What’s all the commotion about?
Multiple members of TEAM AQUA run by heading north, closely followed by the guy from PETALBURG WOODS. They run right past me, and so I decide to follow them.
I stop right next to a building with an actual shadow.
I am faced with a tough decision here. Go north, the direction where I saw them running, or go east, the direction that I know the guy in the green tuxedo went?
I go north, as this is the logical way to get away. When going north, at least.
There is only one person that it looks like I can talk to when I enter this ROUTE.
“Hey, have you see—“ I start to ask.
Okay, that’s nice.
I head back into RUSTBORO CITY. I decide to head east this time, where I see the guy in the green tuxedo again. I poke him in the back.
I’m just about to touch it when…
GAH THAT SCARED ME HE LIKE TURNED AROUND BEFORE I POKED HIM
I actually jumped out of my seat and now my bum hurtsssss
“Oh, it’s you!”
Really? I’m me?
He explains that he was robbed by TEAM AQUA. So I decide to go after them yet again, this time heading east out of RUSTBORO into ROUTE 116.
I walk around in the tall grass.
A WHISMUR comes out of hiding and attacks me.
I send out Wally and CONFUSION it, which makes it faint right then.
But I realized that my POKéMON were mostly fainted, so I went back into the town that defies light physics and into the normal POKéMON CENTER.
I wonder.
"We hope to see you again!"
THEY WANT MY POKéMON TO FAINT OVER AND OVER SO THEY GET TO SEE ME AGAIN
WHAT KIND OF POKéMON LOVER DOES THAT
I exit the POKéMON CENTER with a new perspective in mind for NURSEs.
I head back to ROUTE 116, this time deciding to battle BUG CATCHER JOSE.
He sends out his WURMPLE, and I send out bruh.
He uses POISON STING.
Oh.
Oh no.
UGH I HATE THE POISON CHANCES THEY ALWAYS GO AGAINST MEEEEEE
So I switch out to Luffy.
And I then BUBBLE the WURMPLE to death.
I get a gleam of contempt in my eyes as it falls and JOSE calls it back.
What's that?
I don't know, so I keep Luffy out.
After all, Luffy knows best when it comes to beating new threats...
I shiver a little, involuntarily.
It turns out that it was weak to WATER-TYPE moves, so it was all good.
Then they decide to send out a SILCOON.
I knew what this one was from PETALBURG, so I conclude that it's about the equivalent of JOHTO's METAPOD.
I beat that one off with a few BUBBLEs too.
I grab the REPEL nearby JOSE and go back to RUSTBORO to heal bruh. Even with the creepy NURSEs, POKéMON CENTERs really help out.
I travel back onto ROUTE 116 and pass JOSE again--he doesn't notice me this time because he's looking the other direction--and see a girl. A black-haired girl standing in my way.
And all she is doing is looking up and down.
I try to sneak past her, but the millisecond I step behind her she turns a full 180 degrees to look right where I’m standing.
UGH
JANICE sends out a Marill. Good, this WATER-TYPE should be easy.
bruh uses ABSORB twice.
I order bruh to finish it off with ASTONISH. So she does, and then levels up to LEVEL 12.
Good.
I walk about five steps east and then the HIKER down there decides to challenge me.
Ugh.
I beat his first GEODUDE with a critical ABSORB from my bruh. If she had limbs, I would so high-five her right now.
KFC uses ABSORB on the second GEODUDE of CLARK’s, and subsequently defeats it.
We joyously jump around.
I can actually high-five KFC, but he gets called back a little too early for that.
CLARK sends out a third GEODUDE. Great.
Just great.
I send bruh back out, and she defeats it with another ABSORB.
After that, I head north and get stopped right outside the entrance of VERDANTURF TUNNEL by an old man.
So this old man lost his poor PEEKO.
Whatever that is.
He lets me go inside the TUNNEL now.
It’s “dark.”
I can’t see anything because everything is too bright.
I stumble my way through the TUNNEL, and eventually, my eyes adjust to the sheer brightness of the place.
I make my way through the TUNNEL, and find a TEAM AQUA guy.
There he is.
He yells at me.
I walk closer.
He mumbles a lot about how pointless robbing the DEVON RESEARCHER was. And stealing the weak WINGULL, which I assumed was PEEKO.
So we get into a battle.
He has a POOCHYENA, just like the guy in PETALBURG WOODS.
Okay.
I use ABSORB on it.
I ordered my bruh to finish it off with NATURE POWER, but instead SHADOW BALL is shot out.
Okay, that works too.
I guess.
