I wanna get some Pokemon cards and learn how to play since it seems really fun. However, I don't wanna end up wasting money if no one will play with me. Should I buy some off eBay?

I say sure, go for it. Don't spend too much money, though, in case you find out it's not really your thing.

Unless you have friends that would play with you or even play with their own cards irl, it's pointless to buy them unless you just want to collect them I guess. There is an online game that you can get from the pokemon website which will at least teach you how to play pretty well.

I'd say try the online game first since it's free, and then buy the cards if you like it. You also get a code in every pack you buy so you can get that pack in the online game. I barely play it anymore now, but I still like collecting them.

Yeah.. I mostly collected them I traded when I had a lot.. I never got into playing with the cards, but yeah try it out to see if it's your thing, they can be pretty costy depending on what set you want

I first started ptcg really casually and with a very limited pool of cards but I joined a local league and vastly improved my collection by trading. My tips are to trade in bulk so many unrare cards you don't need for 1 sought after or important card for your ideal deck and get the odds and ends off ebay. After my ideal deck (Team Plasma) was finished, I played in a couple tournaments and I ranked very well in them and qualified for nationals. Pokemon is a very fun thing but is 100s of times better when you have friends or community to trade and play with.

I'd say it's super fun, but like any other tcg, it is a waste of money. It's a very expensive hobby. But it really is fun and the strategies you can come up with are limitless.

This depends. I bought almost no booster packs and I traded up to 2 tournament caliber decks and pages of exs, expensive trainers and full arts. I easily 10x my value.

I've never played the TCG :/
Probably because I'm afraid that I will lose some cards accidentally around the house and such >_>

I received 3 Flashfire Booster Packs for placing Top 3 in a XY video game tournament. There was a TCG tournament before that, and I honestly wouldn't be bothered to collect cards that would result in multiple duplicates and such.
I sold the packs and got $15 :p

I would only collect the cards but never really liked playing with the cards. Just wasn't my thing but never know it may be your thing ^-^ I'd say go for it
