I then walked over to the kid and asked, "Are you the second brat I have to babysit?"

I followed, slightly annoyed by the way he was treating me. Although I guess that is to be expected, since I'd just signed up.

I used my funds from my copyrighted research to get a dozen Pok?balls. I kept quiet, and I was very shy. I hadn't said a word to anyone since I left Twinleaf, not to mention I thought kids my age were rowdy and insensitive.

"By the way, I'm Chie," I introduced myself to the other two recruits, which was pretty pointless since we all had name tags anyway.
