Poke transfer question

I have a bunch of legendarys sitting on my heartgold cartridge, I'd like to know if poke transfer is free so I know if I have to bring the legendarys up to black/white or if I'd just be wasting my time.

I believe you get a one month free trial with both Pokemon bank and Pokemon transfer.

Poketransfer from HeartGold to Black/White is free, but Black/White to X and Y isn't unless you transferred during the free trial period.
