Plot resetting question

When you plot reset, in order to lock the new villager's location in, do you have to save with the new character and drop a tent? I've only plot reset once, and I don't really have anywhere to drop a player house anymore. I also don't want to destroy any more grass.

Yes you do have to drop the house!

But after you time travelled, load up a new character and see if all your villagers are still there. If they aren't, drop the house and time travel AFTER the villager left (they will leave soon). If all the houses are there, load up an EXISTING CHARACTER.

I don't time travel when I can avoid it, I guess I'll just risk it and let the house drop where it will.

Yes, you need to save the game as your new character and put down a tent.

What I usually do is stick to the same spot for new character tents. When they're deleted, they leave behind a muddy patch but I cover it with flowers and avoid stepping on it.
