I want to try plot resetting a villager I'm getting tomorrow. I get the basics of plot resetting: log in with a new account. But I don't want another house in my town. I'm not sure if I have plot resetting right. But can someone tell me the basics?

So...you want to know how plot resetting works?

First, you need a space open for a new character (you get that though). Go through the process of Rover and arrive in town. Once you arrive in town, run around town and check everywhere you can to see if a plot has landed somewhere. If you don't like the plot, just quit the game and do the whole process again. If you do like the spot, then continue the procedure of making a new character (like going to Isabelle and making a house). You can delete the character once you've made your house.

That's basically the gist of plot resetting, but it's very frustrating and takes patience.

You're saying you want to plot reset without having to plot another character house in town? I don't think that's possible, unless someone can correct me.

The basics are as you said: start up the game with a new character, look around to see if the plot is where you want it to be. If you don't like the placement of the plot, close the game and restart it by making another new character. When you finally get the plot where you want it, you have to go talk to Isabelle, she'll direct you to Tom Nook, then you'll have to pick a place for that character's house. You have to do this in order to save the game and the placement of the plot, otherwise, if you start up the game again, the plot placement will most likely be different (whether or not you start with a new character or your mayor).

After you finish saving with that character, you can start up the game again with said character and demolish the home if you don't want it. But yeah, I don't think you can get around plotting a new character home if you want to plot reset.

you do have to place the house in order to save the game when you get a villager you want, but you can always demolish it after.
while plot resetting along with cycling/tting a bit in my town to move people in and out for my dreamies i find the grass grows back in that plot quickly :)
