Sooo, I was trying to plot reset some time ago for my 9th villager. No matter how many times I reset the day, the house stayed in the same spot -- the VILLAGER moving in would change, but the house did not. Since it's in a place I HATE, I decided to give up and move them out ASAP.

Well, when I finally loaded up my mayor, the plot changed entirely; both character AND place.

... I just got Zell, and it's happening again. I definitely did not accidentally load up my mayor previous to now. And he's in the SAME EXACT SPOT as the previous people who were trying to move in. I've tried TTing to different days, different hours, etc. But he stays in the same spot, and now I'm afraid to log into my mayor, because I just paid for him, and I don't want him to move into a crappy spot when he's a dreamie.

( This spot is non - negotiable, because it is so close to my front door, I can hardly see my mail box. orz )

What is probably happening: Move-ins are only possible in a given location if certain requirements are met. I will try to find the thread that explains it and link it below.

PLOT RESET: THE RULES!

When all, or a lot of other possible spots have been taken, or ruled out, there are only so many places left for the new house to go, which is what makes it seemingly appear in the same spot each time.

There should be more spots, though, and they will get chosen if you just keep trying.

This is assuming that you have a pretty full town (9 villagers, PWP's, etc)

I think it's probably just that that spot is for some reason a popular spot. I know I've had villagers seem to want to move in at a certain (really inconvenient) spot, but if I just reset a lot, eventually the spot would be different. I say, just keep trying the reset trick! Count how many times you've done it, too. If you haven't loaded your mayor, the spot has to change eventually.

Ahh, I know the rules of plot resetting; I've had this game for over a year now and such.

What's odd is I only have one PWP, and that's a second bridge. I just started this new town not too long ago. :(

Hrrm. This is the 19th time I've reset, and he hasn't budged a single inch. I'll place my bets on this jerk moving his house as soon as I load up my mayor... This is incredibly frustrating. I might just have to let him move in, cycle him out, and try cycling through 16 and get him back again. Augh.

Thanks for the help, though, guys.

:( I say keep trying!! Cycling through 16 would be such a pain :( Good luck!! If you do give up, I hope he moves when you load your mayor by some miracle

After plot resetting and changing the clock another 14 times for the exact same results, I gave up. I loaded up my mayor.
He frickin' moved.

My game is glitched or something on this front, I swear.

On the plus side, he's in a more workable spot now, and Katrina is in town, so a good time to be making side characters anyhow.

Still, how incredibly frustrating, especially since I had a spot all picked out and now I can never get him to move there.

Oh well. You win some, you lose some.

Oh gosh I'm glad he moved at least! D: Maybe it really was a glitch or something, it just sounds so odd!

What I don't understand is do you let your new character go thru putting down a house and becoming a new villager? Because I have always done that and then when I load my game the house is in the exact spot. Once, early on in my plot resetting, I didn't do all of that and when I loaded my game as mayor the house and person changed.
