Ok, so I just returned to my game yesterday after four months, and invited a villager to move in. Today, I'm plot resetting, trying to get this villager's house into a plot that a previously villager used to live in, but had moved out a few weeks before the last time I played in December. Now I haven't really played or plotted since after the update, but this village keeps moving into the EXACT SAME SPOTS. Now to my understanding, villagers will no longer move onto paths, so that can be used to help keep villagers from plotting onto certain places. I hadn't officially loaded up my game since yesterday. So, if I change my 3ds clock back to yesterday, the day I invited her, will she still try to plot somewhere? Or will the game act like I had just invited her so I can lay down some paths?

She'll still try to plot somewhere, only difference is that I think she's stuck there. I read somewhere that if you TT backwards, however much time it is, the game treats it as one day. Correct me if I'm wrong. In fact, she may even fully move in to the undesired spot if you TT backwards. :(

I know about the whole if you move backwards it counts as a day forward, but what I was saying was if I just set my clock to make seem (to the game) that today never happened, would it work?

Ok I'm going to settle for a spot (sigh) but I would still like an answer to my question for future use!

i might be a bit confused by your question but if an entire day hasn't passed since you asked her to move in, it might work if you change the clock back? but if you haven't played since yesterday and a full day has passed, i think trying to go back one full day and then trying to load it will still cause her to move in regardless

i could be wrong though, i haven't actually had to plot reset since the update - i didn't even know paths affected where villagers move in now, that's pretty neat!

also in general i find that sometimes taking out the game card if you have a physical copy can reset where a villager will pick to move in, so if you try a few resets and aren't satisfied, in the future you could try doing a few and then waiting a few hours or taking out the game card after a few tries!

Not sure if I understand the question but I'll try to answer what I think you mean.. As long as you haven't loaded up your mayor/characters the next day, if you time travel back a day, it will be how your town was the day before. So you can lay down all your paths. The villager will still move in the next day. I hope that's the answer you were looking for :)

I know about the whole if you move backwards it counts as a day forward, but what I was saying was if I just set my clock to make seem (to the game) that today never happened, would it work?

No. If the new villager appeared in your game and waiting for you to save her plotted house, it means the game has already loaded the day the villager should appear. So regardless of TT backward or forward, she/he will be there. Too late to put up patterns. You will have to keep resetting until the villager gets into the spot you want. Don't give up. Eventually the villager will move to other spots.
