Hello!

So I'm doing the plot reset trick to get my villagers to move where I want them... I've created specific residential zoning areas that definitely have plenty of space for villagers to move in.

However.... there is this one spot where no one seems to want to go! Has anyone ever encountered a spot on their map that villagers just refuse to move into? Is this possible? I've reset like 30 times already but they never plot in this desired spot. I've done this with two different villagers now. Neither wanted to go there.

If this is a residential dead zone I'm kind of screwed...

Can you post a screenshot? There are certain rules you have to follow for placing plots o: It might just be too close to cliff/plaza/rocks etc.

Are there any pwps there? A while back there was a spot in my town no one would move into, and it turns out it was because I had a streetlamp too close to that spot.

Well, I would love to post a picture but the forum will not let me.

Oh there we go... hmph

Is there anything across from the path? Because if there is, like a fountain or something, that's why. Some PWPs need 4 free spaces back, so that would be right along the border of where the house entrance would be, which the game won't allow.

The only thing you have to be mindful of is sharing "perimeters" which is the space around the PWPs and houses where bushes and trees will not grow. There is plenty of space around here. :) but no, there aren't any PWPs in close proximity.

maybe try checking your acres? only three buildings (including the campsite) can be in one 16x16 acre. maybe you're leaving spots in acres that are already too crowded?

Thank you. I didn't know there was an acreage rule for houses. This is probably it then.

Good to know I'm royally screwed now. lol I knew I always hated this map. Maybe I will sell the town! LOL

Oh man I never knew this. I need to go re-check my planned villager spots.

Yeah so how does the 16 acres work exactly? How do you know where the acre starts? Because while yes, I have 3 houses in a row already, I've put 4 houses in a row before. There aren't houses in front or behind it. And PWPs do not count?

start in the corner of your map (whichever corner is on land, not in the water- it's probably one of your top corners), and start counting step by step horizontally and vertically. what's important when you're figuring out villager spacing on acres is that the game looks at the red x:

when it is counting how many buildings per acre. it's possible to have 4 houses in a row, but their middle squares must have worked out so that only 3 were in an acre at once.

This is so helpful! I wish i had known this. (gonna have to re-choose my plots now though hahaha.. )

when i found it out, the heavens opened up haha! i'd been plot resetting for 8 hours and ohMYLORD fang kept moving onto paths, and i did not understand why bc all the other qualifications were solid, but then i found this out online and opened up ONE new possible plot, and fang moved there right away. ;;;;;

yeesh this lovely game

Honestly all of these arbitrary rules that are so hard to find and not explicitly stated drive me crazy. Guess that just adds to the satisfaction once your town is the way you want it!

You all wanna hear something hilarious? :D

So I tried counting but I'd literally have to bulldoze down every tree & bush & path so I could properly count things without losing track cause I'm just that inept. I figured the acre issue must be my problem and abandoned this trouble spot to try to work out something new... completely reconfigured another area for the second time in a month.

As I'm plot setting for a new villager in a new spot... wouldn't you know it that the bloody bugger moved into the trouble spot?

I swear Nook & Isabelle are somehow behind my problems. I bet Isabelle and Nook are in a back room of the town hall just laughing at me. :p
