Plot Reset Question!

Okay! So I know how to plot reset, longest I've ever had to was 8 hours. But this villager is very stubborn and just won't move where I would like her to go.
So my question is; how do I plot reset for longer than a day? I've seen people post that it took them days or weeks to plot reset a villager, but I don't see how that's possible if the day resets at 6am.
Is it simply a case of time travelling backwards a few hours on the same day?

As long as you don't log into the game with an existing character, the villager's plot won't be set in stone. If you don't really care about playing every day, you can just leave the clock alone and keep plot resetting, or you can use an exiting character to set the time back to the day before the plot appeared.

Oh, so even if the villager has moved in with boxes, the house will keep moving with a new character anyway?

No, if there physical house is there already, then they have already been permanently placed.
