I am aware that when you place your first three plots down there is a method to get any villager you want. But are you able to do this with other plots later in the game?

No I did not mean that. I meant that if you have an open plot is there a way you can choose who it is? similar to what you can do with your first three plots

No, i dont think so. You only can do this method to get who you want because the plot gets claimed right after you complete if you enter and then exit a building, but that doesnt work with other plots since the plot gets claimed when you first open the game in the next day/days.

I just checked the wiki and it appears you can only do this with your first three plots.

Technically you can choose though using Nook Mile Tickets or amiibo cards. You just have one day before you get a random move in and you have to do it on that day. So, you definitely don't have an unlimited amount of time, but you still have an option to make a choice.
