So I was expecting another villager to move in soon since I only had 8. This morning I started with a new save file to check, and the first thing I found was a new plot. So I restart, but the next few times I check, there's no plot? I did my usual grid search, and even in places I know aren't big enough for a house. Any chance a plot would show up if I loaded my mayor? I'm scared to try, lol.

One might still show up if you start up with your mayor. It's happened to me before. I'd start a new character again and save with them if you don't find a plot just to be 100% sure

Since you're getting a random move-in for a ninth villager, you're not guaranteed to have a plot appear every time you check with a new save file.It varies....sometimes you get several plots in a row, sometimes you don't get any after many tries. How long since your last villager moved out?Usually, more plots appear after three days from your last move out.

Since it's a move in from the game there is an increasing chance for a plot to show as the days go by, and 100% chance after seven days. If you were to log in on your mayor without saving when there is no plot, there is a chance for there to be a plot when you load the game. If you're resetting for a certain villager or house placement in a certain area of your town I would load up a new character again to be safe. :) You can always save on the new character if there is no plot, and then you won't get a plot when you log in on your mayor for that day.

Oh wow, that's good to know! I'm glad the first time showed a plot so I didn't go load with my mayor and then find one, lol. I thought the inconsistency only applied to the campsite. That makes plot resetting totally inconvenient though, lol

you don't want to load with your mayor or any already made characters because that would save the game, therefore the plot will then be permanent.

from what I've read, the probability of a random move in will increase as the days pass, so maybe save today even if there are no villager plots, and try the next day?

Yes, new move on chaces are increased with each day, for around 6-7 days after the last move inf there should be close to the 100% chances of getting a new villager, so by that time you can, and probably will doing the plot reset tirck, to either get a good villager you like or the house in a good spot, always use a new character to check, and when you are satisfied with the result of the day, save with the new character, althoug you will get a big square of dirt after you delete that character, but I think is woth as you can buil a public work project to hide the dirt.
