Sony has announced the Playstation Classic, which comes with
20 pre-loaded games. It comes out on December 3.

Are you going to buy this console? And what do you think about this idea?

I mean, it looks like Sony got kinda inspired by Nintendo, and while I liked
the Playstation One back then, I guess I will not going to buy it. I don't
know, I planned to get a Switch and I don't really have interest in playing
old PS games right now to be honest. But it's kinda nice idea though...

I just buy games on my psvita. I doubt ps4 players will buy it since I'm pretty sure they can just download psone games too. Seems like itll appeal to collectors more then anything... I like how it's super tiny tho, it's kinda cute ^-^

EDIT: By buying games on my vita I mean psone games ^-^

I'm more intrigued by this than the Nintendo throwbacks because I have played literally no PS1 games before.

(A dank part of me hopes there will be a Digimon World rep, and Xenogears)

Not really. There are a couple of games that I want to play on the psone but I don't think it's worth buying one for me.

I still have a PS2 and fully backwards compatible PS3 (this recently stopped working), so I just play PS1 games on those.

I still have a PS2 and PS3 which are backwards compatible with PS1 games plus a bunch of physical copies, not to mention for the sake of convenience I can just use an emulator...Because changing the HDMI's on the TV is hassle.

If it were cheaper I would probably buy one for the sake of having one, but there's nothing on there (so far) that I either don't already have, have any interest in, nor do I lack the 'official' means to already play them.

Ehh not too interested in it atm, maybe when more games are revealed it'll get more interesting.

$100 seems a little steep for one of these, and it doesn't even come with an AC adapter. I'm not too interested right now, but they still haven't announced the full lineup. I'll wait for the complete game list before I decide for sure.

This is a pretty decent idea (depending on the games especially). I think it's something my boyfriend would like more since he's a PS veteran.

hmmm idk I might ask for it or not I mean I know few good games on that console but idk other games on it.
So I'll think about and yes it is a good idea bringing the classic back in stores for christmas,

If it's got the first 3 Crash games and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, I'm sold!

It would be nice if some of the Square RPGs we never got here in Europe like, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Chrono Cross or Legend of Mana got included.

I don’t think PS4 owners have any way to play PS One classics unless PS Now offers that option. :/ If you don’t have a PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP/Vita you can’t play PS One games.

I remember hearing that it’s powered literally by USB so I don’t see that as much of an issue. I do agree that $100 is steep given how we’re given controller(s?) without analog sticks and we don’t know the 15 other games.

I need to see what the 20 games are first before making a decision. The PS1 has so much nostalgia for me due to certain games like Crash, Spyro, and the Bloody Roar fighting series, but with Crash and Spyro both being remastered i?m leaning more towards passing on the system.

I might but... probably not. The only real advantage to it for me is it supports HDMI (PS1 and PS2 don't natively). I still own quite a bit of PS1 games and probably have most of what's going to be on there.

I disagree with those who say it's expensive though. Final Fantasy VII alone goes for like $20-25 on eBay if you buy the PS1 original, and the thing is going to have 19 more games plus the hardware itself. It's a great price if you want to play most or all of those games and don't currently own them.

It's only expensive for people like me who already own them. And some of them multiple times over. I own 3 different versions of FFVII as it is.
