I believe so. I left it on playing and it counts as play time, time moves regularly (of course) so i'd assume so.
Yes, it will. I kept forgetting the game was open while I was doing the diving trick.
Sometimes I leave my game open and I accidentally fall alseep. I think this is why my game count has 1.8 thousand hours on it LOL

I would think that if the game is on and the DS open that it would count towards play time!
you have to be careful though, if you're not meaning for the time to hit X time, and you leave it on, you have no choice...
