Does time travelling make new trees that have been planted die? I planted some peach trees yesterday and then tt'd forward one day. They were still there after that. Then I tt'd back one day and they were still there.

Before going to bed last night I watered them and all seemed fine. This morning, they've all gone! Did the tt'ing kill them? Or did I do something wrong? Or just unlucky?? Any tips or ideas anyone???

You mean they disappeared? That shouldn't happen, TTing or no. Did a villager move in near them, taking them out? Or did you build something near them? Did you have a visitor that could've cut them down without you realizing? That's all I can think of. (You don't have to water trees btw.)

No, they're just not there!! They were new yesterday and very small and this morning there was nothiing there. I assumed they had died. Nothing / no one has disturbed them- I was even careful not to walk on them in case that damaged them.

I didn't realise that I didn't need to water them though- that's good- one less job for me to do!

That's very odd. Must be a glitch, I don't think TTing is the cause if they were still there. Unless they looked wilted when they TTed forward, I really have no explanation other than that it's a glitch.

Did they grow at all after you first planted them? If they did then they'll continue growing until they're full-size, they won't die after that. If they died, they would've turned into little dead saplings the very next day. Maybe they died and you just didn't realize? I always dig up dead saplings immediately but maybe they disappear if you leave them for a few days.

time-traveling forward would not kill them, but just make them grow as normal. Time traveling back would not change their growth as in: you planted them on Monday and they are little trees, you tt to the next day they grew, but if you tt to Monday again they should be the same size as they were Tuesday. Going back to your issue, did they grow in that day you tt forward? Or were they still tiny?

No they were still tiny. I often don't have luck with growing trees. Should they grow at all in day 1 then?? I've planted apple trees in the spaces left (I put peaches there before) and they are very small with dark green leaves. Does that sound normal??

And no, they were still tiny when I tt'd forward.

usually after a day, they have grown a bit, taller with some trunk. they shouldn't still be little baby saplings. is it possible that you planted them too close to something? trees need one space all around to grow. (apologies if you already knew this, i had no idea when i planted stuff).

Yeah, they definitely died then. If they were planted successfully then they would've grown incrementally over the next few days and been full sized after I think 3-4 days.

I wonder why they died then? Did you leave at least one space between all of them and any surrounding buildings/rocks/water? Do you have a lot of other trees in the area?

Ooh maybe. Thanks captain_katie. They are next to the fence at the top. That'll be it won't it. I didn't know about the space needed!

I just planted them all in a row, right next to each other up against the wall at the top!!!!! That explains it. Thanks guys!

oh yeah! eheh i definitely did that for a while. the train tracks fence, right? just make sure that you have one space all around. and as Reese said, sometimes saplings won't grow if there are loads of other trees in the area. i shall leave you with this guide that user Ettiene told some of us about here

I'll go and read up before I plant anything else then! I'll dig up the baby saplings (because none of them will grow) and start again!!

Mystery solved! And that's a great guide Katie! Yep, there are indeed a bunch of rules when it comes to planting trees/bushes so it helps to read up before you waste too many fruits/saplings hehe. Good luck :)
