The Bell Tree Fair 2013 Patch
I want to have a go planning my new town out by every space. Maybe in a grid like way? I haven't tried something like this before with past towns, and I figured it might be a good way to try out ideas for PWP and villager house placement etc.

Has anyone done this? Planned out every square inch, or almost that much? How did you do it, and did it work well for you? I was thinking of maybe using Microsoft Excel?

Not to a huge extent. I've only had two towns (one since the release date and another from when I recently reset) and the first I put NO planning into lol. By the time I finally unlocked the police station, I barely had any room to put it in.

When I started up my new town, I laid out patterns where I wanted to put the cafe and the police station and plot reset my villagers so I would have plenty of room for PWPs. Planning everything square by square sounds like a LOT of work though omg. good luck!!!

Don't plan every square. Plan generally what uses (forest, park, garden, orchad, residental area, flower field [?], caf?, camp, ... etc.) goes to which area and where you want your villagers to be.

Well, I've done it on Microsoft Excel. :) I've made a top half and bottom half model of my town, with each square representing a square of space in my town. It didn't take too long actually!

Yeah I didn't put much planning into my first few towns (I reset a LOT :P) but with my new town I just wanted to have an idea of where I put things. :) On my other town, I put down patterns, but since I was waiting for PWPs to be suggested I had to have the patterns on the floor for a long time. :/ And thank you!

I've done that in the past, and I just feel like I want something more set in stone this time. :)

If I understand your question correctly, I'm kind of doing something like this. Not really with houses, but with where I want certain things such as trees and PWPs. I'm using square patterns that will be replaced with something.
