Pictures in the mail

If a villager moves out and your good friends, will they send a picture in the mail? I’ve gotten no pictures from any of my villagers and I really want new villagers but I don’t like letting villagers leave without collecting their picture first.

The only villagers that sends mail are your current villagers (not including NPCs), while im not sure current ones will send the pic, Im assuming no. Its given after you give them enough gifts and have a high friendship level. I could be wrong on that info about gift sending though c: Ive only been sent gifts (that villagers were supposed to give me after i gave them a gift when talking to them) when my inv is full and villagers say "ill send it in mail!"

I don’t think they send you their picture in the mail, at least I’ve not seen anyone report that! They don’t even send you mail saying goodbye when they’ve moved out in NH.
I have seen people get pretty decent items sent through the mail by their current villagers though, such as Redds art works and items in different colours to their islands colour pool.
I think I’m unlucky though because all I’ve been sent is weird looking clothing! And I think I got a toolbox once lol

I got my picture of Beau from him in the mail the day after his birthday, so I know it can happen.

Since we don't get letters when they move out anymore, I don't think so. I really miss those goodbye letters they would send us though

No, as I don't believe villagers give you anything when you visit them on their birthdays? I gave him a foreign fruit wrapped up and he said he loved the gift.

I was surprised when I got it as it was pretty early after the game came out.

I don’t think they do no, that’s pretty good! I was under the impression it was fairly difficult to get their picture from what others have said.
He must really love his fruit!

Villagers randomly send me presents in the mail. Even though I never send them mail, with or without presents.

The datamined friendship guide says a picture can be a reward from a villager in Best Friend status in return for an especially high-point birthday gift (giftwrapped foreign fruit, for instance, or wrapped clothing in their style and color)

they can send you a picture in the mail as thanks for attending their birthday party or if they were going to give you the picture after you gave them a present, but your inventory was full at the time. If anyone has gotten a picture with random mail from the villager lmk cause my villagers send me so much mail and its never been their pictures

yea I know! c: I was talking about what @DoeReMi was saying, as in "if they were going to give you the picture after you gave them a present, but your inventory was full at the time"

All villagers send mail with random gifts in it c: But lets say you just kicked Stitches out of your island, he will no longer send you mail because he is no longer living on your island. They gotta be living there in order to get mail from them (not including NPC's)

Just to update this with another confirmation: I had plenty of room in my pockets when I gave Peanut her birthday gift (wrapped foreign fruit) yesterday and today I got her picture in the mail!
