Has any one ever noticed that Phyllis (Pelly's sister) is on duty at the post office she never looks directly at you? She always seems to be looking off to the right. I've only just noticed that. And another thing, she doesn't seem quite as rude as in the other versions of AC.

Yeah, I think they changed the villager personalities a lot. The cranky villagers don't seem as mean, and I remember Nintendo mentioned that they cut down on Resetti's appearances because a lot of little kids would cry about his lectures.

Keep in mind they really cut down the dialogue options in the Post Office so there really isn't enough room for her personality to be displayed as greatly.

Agreed as well. I realize that for many players of the series, this is kind of like a vacation sim, where they can garden and have laid-back, pleasant interactions with everyone in their town, but for me part of the games charm came from the realism of less-than-pleasant townies. I loved that there were jerks in my game, alongside the sweeties and the jocks, and the pretentious snoots.
