I hope it stays a rumour. I'd like to buy the december birthstone :___: But I guess it would be ok if they replaced it with something else. Like the zodiac-idea someone mentioned! :3

birthstones are boring

we need a new monthly collectable instead of the stones that don't even look like what they're supposed to (the colours aren't correctly associated with some months) for example the ruby stone is pink when rubies are red.. and the garnet should be a darker shade of red.

Rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and amethysts were designed to match their New Leaf counterparts. I did consider just using my own color palette for it, but even then I'm pretty sure it's not uncommon for rubies to have a pink hue.

The same thing kinda applies for the garnet here as I've seen it in both darker and brighter colors.
