Petal Tail Dragonfly Advice?

Hunting for these bugs has really made me see how true that statement is. If I ever get another town & start collecting the bugs (That's a big IF) then I'm going to remember that. Thank you!

Walker Cicada - I didn't donate a Walker Cicada. I caught one. It's in my catalog. I thought I had donated all of the other bugs but the Petal Tail but I somehow didn't donate a Walker Cicada. Sigh...

That happened to me with the fish.

I forgot to donate a barred knifejaw. :)

I'm sorry to hear that. It's truly the pits. I was just telling my hubby & son that I was done the Bug Section of the Museum & I was doing a little happy dance and then I realized Blathers didn't say anything about the section being complete. Crash. The only thing that makes me happy is that I have seen Walker Cicada so I don't think finding one tomorrow will be as bothersome.

Congrats on catching the petal tail!

Good luck finishing your bug section. I think walker cicadas are fairly common.

Nearly three years playing this game and never even seen one of these bugs. Only ever seen one scorpion and two tarantulas. It?s crazy how low some of the bugs spawning rates are.

@ Hsn97 Yeah I've only seen a few tarantulas and they all creep behind and to the right of my house for some reason where it ain't even open space lmao, plus I've a few neighbours around so...

I think I got the petaltail fairly easily though as long as you play between the hours...

Thank you! The Walker are more common than the Petail Tail. Thank goodness!

Wow... WOW! It's insane that someone can play for years & not see one of the bugs they need to catch. Yes, the spawning rate of some bugs is ridiculously low. I'm sorry it's been almost 3 years & you haven't seen the Petal Tail. I hope you at least get to see one some day.

I would be so creeped out to have tarantulas near my house. That's horrifying. *shudders* I was finally about to get the Petal Tail yesterday at 2 minutes to 7 PM. Talk about cutting it close!

And another fruitless effort this afternoon.

That's one Petaltail in 21 days.

Awww, Stackhouse, I'm so sorry. I'm really truly hoping you can catch one soon. Catching these bugs has been the most frustrating things about ACNL.

I only just saw my first ever tarantula and I've been playing for over a year! So frustrating

Indeed it is! The Petal Tail I caught yesterday was the very first one I've seen & I've been playing for just over a year as well. I understand that the bugs are "rare" but 1 or 2 a year is almost non existent!

Grats Valzed! Yeah idk it always attack me towards a bridge above my house it's like bruh there ain't even much open space there when I got it smfh

For those who had not yet caught a Petaltail Dragonfly, I think it may help if your plant some hybrid flower in your town. I think it attracts rare bugs to spawn more likely.

Thanks! That would make me afraid to leave my house. I'm actually quite happy that I don't see the tarantula or scorpion a lot.

If I were still hunting for a Petal Tail I'd give it a shot. It can't hurt plus hybrids make your town look nice. Thanks for the advice, Aquasplash!

I have nothing but hybrids, and still no dragonfly after 22 days.

Mine have always appeared during the day. They look like helicopters compared to the other dragonflies, so they're pretty hard to miss. I've also seen them on island tours a bunch (including tours where bug-catching isn't the main feature, so you get to take the bugs home). That's so strange that the wiki marks them as evening critters; I've never seen any at night.

Wow I thought it was 4-5 pm and not 5-7 pm but yeah.. def not daytime??

I?d like to report that after a solid hour of searching, too many save and continues to count, capturing 75 bugs and scaring off many more,I now have the Petal Dragonfly unlocked in my Encyclopedia.

Now just the scorpion left to wrangle...

Congratulations! It feels really good to final catch one, doesn't it? I found the Scorpions more easily than the Tarantula. They were still a challenge but nothing has been as awful as the Tarantula. Good luck!
