Pet peeves with AC travelers

I'm one of these paranoid folks whenever someone comes over. I've had enough people avoid my paths because it's "boring" to run on them instead of where the flowers are. I thought it was common courtesy to not touch anyones flowers/fruit/items on the ground without asking?

Aside from that, every Japanese friend that's come over has been extremely friendly. They, for the most part, bring a thank you gift, ask if it's okay to come into my home/go shopping. There's no tree shaking, no flower picking ( there is some flower watering though ) and no worries.

You guys need to report these people in the "Blacklist" thread. It needs to be known that they're horrible people who have zero respect for their fellow gamers.

When did we get a blacklist thread?

I love having people over because its just fun to talk and hang out. So, I was looking at different threads when I came across someone who had just gotten the game and wanted to play. I willingly accepted and went to her town, then she came to mine. We hung out and had a blast, but then I had to go. I said: "I have to go now so..." And she said oh ok bye. In my head I thought: you should leave! And the girl immediately ran the other way. She shook all of my fruit trees, except for the cherries, and even took two of my hybrids. I walked over there trying to play "dumb" and I caught her while shaking a tree and she ran towards the police station. I was super mad and immediately just turned off my wifi. When I came back she said. (We bet friended each other for some reason..?) "why did you do that?" I responded with, "You took most of my fruit and some hybrids." She stated that she only wanted the fruit and didn't know that she took the hybrids -_-.
Oh well. That doesn't stop me from playing on multiplayer. :)
Once you know you want to stop playing and the other person didn't do anything wrong yet just select 'end multiplayer session'

I hate to assume, but I kind of think most of the people who do that are kids. Any experience I have had like that was from a younger player (much younger). I no longer allow anyone under 18, in my town. That isn't even a guarantee. There are exceptions. I met a kid in Club Tortimer who I had no idea was a kid, because he seemed so mature. Come to find out he is 16, so He is allowed. Also, I had AR and added the codes for the seeds. I never seeded anyone's town or gave them anything unless they asked. I used them to pretty much just do crazy things to my town after becoming bored with the game. I also informed everyone on Animal Crossing Community at the time before coming in what to expect. Yet, people would still come in and be all shocked and leave thinking their game would somehow screw up from coming to my town. As I said, not once did I ever sell seeds or give them away. If someone wanted something in their town I would plant it for them where they asked. I can't understand wanting to destroy someone's town. I think for the hybrid stealers, they just don't have an idea that what they are doing is not right (again probably because they are kids). Not to generalize, because obviously there are some kids who understand that rules that apply in real life would apply to you in the game. Don't take things that aren't yours etc.

I suppose i'm one of those overly friendly and naive people because I tend to let people in my town and then go AFK for several minutes.

I must also be incredibly lucky because nothing ever happened...and my town is covered in patterns and Hybrid flowers, which I will happily share with you if you bother asking for one or two. > n<;;

But I gotta agree with kcrojas. Most of the time, grief is done by younger people...

I have had one player in my town and he is one of thee most sweetest friends I have ever met, still waiting to give him his gold axe and silver axes back lol. In the other games like wild world...I had seeds dropped all over my town, a gracie car, rocks and a second house :s. In city folk I had flowers taken and trees chopped down. I don't plan on allowing people into my town until I know for certain they are trustworthy! Heck if I go to a persons town, I don't touch nothing or run, most of the time just fish or stand around and chat or do whatever the owner wants to.

After reading a few threads of what has happened to other players towns makes me even more leery now, I don't understand the griefing mentality. I would honestly prefer to go to other people's towns after they get to know me online.

That's how I feel about it. So many people have bad experiences, and now I'm only going to let people I can trust in my gates from online. If I go to someone else's town, I'll obey the rules. If they just want me to do one thing, then I'll do it! I don't run around like crazy stealing things or talking to their villagers if they don't want me to.
There's some people I feel suspicious about sometimes that I just can't name. I plan to not let anyone in my town until I know for sure that they are trustworthy. :)

If anyone is screwing with your town, TURN OFF YOUR 3DS OR FLIP THE WIFI SWITCH!!!! This will cause the visitor to just get an error message and be sent home, with none of YOUR belongings in THEIR pockets. if you saved after they started wrecking your town, the changes will not be reversible, because obviously, they were saved.

Simply booting them out of your town is an awful idea because it is slower and it saves the wreckage in your town, and saves the things they stole into their inventory.

I've had several people take flowers (even if they're regular flowers, they're not yours, I did not give you permission to take them, leave them alone -.-), and others take items they were supposed to be cataloging before I had a chance to notice they were leaving. Because of that I am very paranoid and tend to follow people visiting around my town now unless I know them well enough to be sure they won't damage anything. When I'm doing a trade or even giving someone an item in my town I always end the session as soon as its done. Its not an attempt to be rude, I just don't want my town to end up in pieces after all the hard work I've put into it. If I get to know someone in PM here on the forums or for whatever reason we get to chatting for a bit before we disconnect, I think I'm actually pretty friendly, I just don't want to lose everything I've done.

We don't have one. I don't know where Amykins got that from.

I swear I'm the only sensible kid out there. I've been very lucky to not have my items stolen, but I play with much more mature players.

I have one person, not going to name names, who shows up uninvited in my town whenever I open my gate. While I am busy trying to do trades, I don't want them wandering around when I can't see them. They continue to run around no matter how many times I tell them to stop, and it concerns me because of all of my hybrids. I have over 50 of them that I have finally arranged to my liking. I don't want to hurt this person's feelings, so how should I tell them to stop coming in uninvited?

I haven't done this yet, but I believe you can close your gates once the person you are trading with is in your town. It prevents others from coming into your town. You talk to Porter to close the gates I think.

^Cute siggy ^.^

When you said travelers I thought you meant time travelers. But things I don't like about travelers is that sometimes they take stuff from your village without asking. For <Insert name here>'s sake, you're stealing...in a game.

A game...

A game @.@??

Thanks <3 yours is cute too!
Seriously though I don't understand why people steal .-. I don't leave stuff around on the ground anymore unless I trust the people. I've only gotten like a few fossils stolen and perfect apples taken without being asked :l

Why not just delete them from your friends?

I don't understand why Nintendo STILL hasn't added a feature that lets you restrict what people can do in your town. They stop us sending mail to other towns but they have no problem with letting people come trash yours... A simple 'town rules' feature would pretty much fix the entire online experience for this game.

Well, they most probably assume that the person you added is your 'friend', so developing such a feature would probablyy just waste their time (in their perspective).

Yup, I've added some people from here on my Friend List; the only two that aren't are my sisters. But I'm not ever letting anyone in until I can fully trust them, until my town is "visitor safe" (basically upgraded), or anything else that proves the person is nice. If someone acts suspicious towards me I will never allow them through my gates.
Someone on the forums said that they only allow people who have been on the site for at least one month and have over 100 posts. I think I'll do that, but they have to have over 150 posts and been on the site for at least three months. OR they have shown they are trustworthy...by doing something nice for me. ;) Haha, I'm just kidding!
