I've been thinking about creating a new character on my game. Mainly because with my main character, all of my pattern spaces are filled with my pathway patterns, so that means I can't use any other patterns for signs, town flag, etc.
So I was just wondering what you guys did with your second/third/fourth character so I can get a better idea of what I could do with mine other than using for pattern storage. Like, did you do anything interesting with their houses?
I put path designs on my second character. I also make room for more sets that I like. You can also speed up the process of getting the fortune-tellers shop.
I thought abut making my second character's house a bunch of things like a cafe, a daycare ('cause the kid stuff is cute), a library, etc. Kind of like a bunch of little businesses.
Well I made their houses extra storage for room since I had a few room ideas, but I couldn't do it since my main house was too full. Plus I feel like being a boy sometimes and I log onto the male equivalent of my female mayor, but that's usually not how it is with most people.
Still an interesting idea to have a genderbent version of your main character though...or maybe even an identical one! Maybe you can even make them your favorite character c:
i made two more villagers to store qrs and items on~ their houses were bothering me after awhile bc they were so empty... so i made one a cafe/library and the other a grocery store! i think it's a neat way to add some cute buildings to your town.
I used mine to store hybrids and use furniture I didn't have room for in my other house. My second character's house (now my mayor's house in my second copy) was a boxing ring, and I'm planning on creating another character in my main town once I finish with my mayor's house to do another house idea I had.
My second character was made to be a rival of my mayor. However, I'm not really sure I'm still sticking with that concept. I took out the paths of my town and had my second character lay down the same exact ones because I wanted my mayor to have more room for custom clothes. When it comes to designing a house, I'm not really sticking to one series per room this time around. I'm not exactly trying to get my second character to be as complete as my first, he's just there with some importance. He doesn't even talk to the town villagers.
I usually only have a 2nd character to hold patterns. I don't upgrade their home, as I like having a permanent tent set up in town. I don't put too much furniture in the tent, either. I just put a few pieces here & there.
I typically use them for pattern storage, and my character is usually a male so I can play as both genders if I so choose.
I usually decorate their house with certain themed rooms; stuff like a school, a restaurant, etc.
My before town, I was against having alt characters...
With my new town, I wanted to have a couple alts. ^-^
My mayor I do whatever I wish.
Star runs a hotel ((work in progress)) and Lilly has a fairy tale garden home ((work in progress)) that also works on landscaping the town ((path holder))

I think it's super awesome to have multiple characters for QR files and additional fun houses to decorate.
My main mayor's house is just stuff I like and she holds the main path QR files for the town. Her house is fancy castle on the outside…
My second character is a girl… has kind of a clothing and wig shop house with an arcade and a cafe on the top floor. Her house is mermaid on the outside. It was fun to use the more over the top cutesy exterior on my second character and put different shops in her house that I wouldn't have done with my main mayor. She holds some additional QR path files, too.
My third character's (is a guy) … house has a lot of restaurants and a spa and kitchen in it. His exterior house is more cottages and he holds the QR file for my face standee and some water QR path files.
I think it's a lot of fun to have more than one house to decorate, you can have different themes or building ideas for each house and you get a ton more QR spaces. You can pick totally different styles of clothing and hair and face for each character. It's fun to think about how they are different.
I thought about an alternate to hold paths... But I just...can't...bring myself to do it... I don't change QR clothes all the time with my Mayor, so I think I'll be okay on that aspect. Even if I fill all my slots with paths, I can always switch them momentarily until I've changed clothes. I intend to change clothes with the seasons. c:
I don't like having more than 1 character, but in the end, like you, I had to make one for patterns.
I had lots of fun in the end.
I made a really scruffy looking guy called Camper that I placed in the middle of a forest with his tent.
He will be living in that tent forever, LOL!
