People are saying there are more villagers coming - where in the update are you guys seeing this?

I saw rover who is new, but isn't necessarily a new villager - where are you guys getting the idea that new villagers are coming? PS update hype!

Rover fits more under of that of a npc then when i think of villagers that can be moved in. In this update its appear they are adding rover but also adding in good olde redd and leif and then appearance by out favorite alpaca couple

Imagine Nintendo adding new villagers regularly and with no amiibo cards available for them. This NMT hell would never end!! But like the others said, Rover and the rest of the new animals shown in the trailer are npc. I havent heard yet about them adding new villagers.

The confusion may stem from the frame in the trailer that says something like "newly added island visitors" when referencing the NPCs

I wondered if he might be added as a villager too? Who knows!
I do think it'd be cool if they added new ones periodically. Or it'd be a fantastic way to sell some new amiibo, haha!
The trading boards will explode if ANYone new is added, especially Rover.

I was also wondering if Rover will be a new cat villager. I know a lot of people love Rover so it'd be great fanservice. I doubt that's what they're doing, but it'd still be pretty cool.
I really hope they add in new villagers here and there and ways to get them via events so people don't have to island hop hundreds of times or pay a ton of NMTs to get them.

In one of the videos, Nintendo said that not every Villager is available at the start, but will eventually. I think it was the trailer where they introduced the camping site and how to invite other villagers.

Time stamp: 24:45... oh wait, that was only for Amiibo. But I was sure that I saw that new villagers will come out.
