Paths or no paths?

I say paths. I never used them before but I like how they look. I agree that they help guide visitors and really, there's big patches of dirt in my town already, why do I need more dirt showing?

I have paths in my village, but they are not the "usual" straight and wide street-type paths that many players seem to prefer. Mine are narrow stone paths, only a square wide, and they twist and wind through the trees. I like that because they look more natural to me. :)

Do you have an image of your path? This sounds like something I am looking for. ^^

You can see a little of the path here:

The path is a square wide, but I alternate between two different designs when I place the path so that the stones don't look like they're completely uniform. If you have the dream suite, visit my town for a closer look! :)

I don't have the dream suite yet but yes I see what you mean, I attempted to make my own and failed miserably, its exactly that sort of uneven cobblestone look I was going for, with grass around the edges, too bad the pallet is limited so you can't get the grass to blend perfectly. I do prefer the 2 tiles wide paths though, and was trying to make enough patterns so the path could curve around corners rather than turn a sharp 90 degrees, but it was taking up too much pattern space :(

Yeah, I know what you mean! I wish I could get that perfect shade of green to make the path blend in. Oh well. It isn't going to work all the time anyway, since the seasons change and I think that affects the grass and ground. We need a transparency feature in the designs so that some parts of the ground show through. That would be ideal. :)

I'm just trying out custom paths for the first time. For as difficult as it is to go big and use a lot of patterns, it can look really nice. I'm mostly doing it for playing online; to guide my visitors and such.

I don't personally do paths but I've seen some beautiful ones. For me I've always preferred the natural look and to be honest I have so many flowers that my grass wear is pretty minimal.

In Wild World, I didn't really care using paths at all.
When I started using New Leaf, I started using paths to make it more like a real town supposed to be (or my dream town) . Since New Leaf have options to add projects to town, so why not? The path complicates to make it into a complete town. In my opinion. :]

I'm lving the paths. i've created a second character to get some extra palette space for more designs as the path I did takes up 9 spaces by itself!

I've honestly tried to make paths but I've never had enough patients for it. But I think i'm going to try it out on New Leaf. I want to put more effort in my town this time around.
