Path Question!

So I'm about to start placing paths down in my town. But the major question is...where the heck do I start??

I usually start at the entrance of my house.

I started from my town's plaza. Turned out pretty well.

I decided to outline where I wanted my paths with flowers, taking a couple trips to the island to steal them during tours. That way, I could kind of get an idea of where they'd go, without having to erase a zillion times. (Plus, when I was done I had a nice flower border.)

For me, I connected my facilities first: Re-Tail, Town Hall, the Cafe and the Police Station as these are my main destinations. Afterwards, my house, etc. It's not perfect, as villagers have moved into other places, you might have to add or rearrange paths.

Also, it's a good idea to pick a path before you lay out your flowers. This way you can decide whether you like single paths, or double, etc. I tested my path on the plaza first, because sometimes what you think is lovely on screen, just doesn't suit your town once you lay it down. Oh! And be aware of how many pattern slots you'll need! More intricate paths usually require more than just your ten slot pattern inventory!

I think I started from my station and first I just walked around my town to see where the natural feeling of movement would take place, and I also based my path around my villager houses as well. Placing flowers can also be a huge help, as already mentioned, as many people will use them to line their paths and get a better idea of placement.

i think i started from my house as well, but i didn't really connect the main buildings. i just put paths where i walk often! while i was walking i thought... "hm here i should place a bit".. like that.

Basically, where do you run most often? Where would it be most convenient to path? If there's a rock or house in the way, just find a way to work around it. Eventually it'll become more clear. I'd start at my house; starting with the plaza or other places like that would be complicated because they can have more than one path leading to or past them.

I started by just making them go between houses, pwps, and general areas of interest.
Houses, to plaza, to ReTail, to city hall, to train station, etc.

I started from my train station, but I had everything planned out already.
I would suggest you do the same, if you plan on paper it will only take you 20 minutes or so to do it in your town!
