So I've had ACNL for several months now, and I've really started to dislike my map, but I love my villagers too much to reset, so i'm considering buying a second game. Now I only have one 3DS (i had two, until i told one a few months back, silly me -.-) My sister and bf both have 3DS's too, but they both have ACNL as well. Is it possible to own two games on one device? I know I couldn't go between my towns. Or if I put my new copy into my sister's DS (even though she has ACNL), could I visit my town from there? Or is one 3DS friend-code automatically associated with one copy of the game? I'm not sure if what i'm saying makes sense, but if someone understands what i'm trying to say i'd love some help :)

You can put your physical copy into your sister's DS and visit your new town from there, for example to bring villagers from your old to your new town. Have fun with your 2nd copy!

You can just have someone hold your villagers for you before you reset :)

Yes, you can have as many physical copies on one 3ds as you want. All the save data is on the cartridge itself and not on the 3ds. You can only have one digital copy of a game per 3ds from what I've heard tho.

You can use both copies on one DS. Also, the friend code will be associated with both games, since the friend code is for the DS not the game. But each town will have it's own Dream Address.

And like Lamues said, you can use your sister or bf's DS to trade items/villagers between your towns.
