So I'm pretty sure every single villager has a different outfit than one they had in new leaf. Some are slightly similar to their old aesthetic, and some are very changed. What are some of your favorite changes and some outfits you wish could come back revamped? Personally, I miss the shirt Sprinkle and Fang both wore in New Leaf, but I really like Wolfgang's new aesthetic in his cool bomber jacket :3c The Gracie tank he wore in NL I feel just didn't suit his personality.
One that I find... Weird is Chief's outfit. He wears the white shirt with the pink sweater wrapped around his neck looking like some kind of frat boy, but he lives in a graffiti'd garbage dump.
I prefer Mac's old one. He had an aloha shirt and now he bas a raglan shirt. I mean, you are in a deserted island, come on, get that tropical look out. Also, Ankha used to wear some bandages, and now it's a dress. I like it, more classy, but I wish there was a dress like that to give her (the mummy outfit doesnt look good believe me I tried). Walt's was better in new leaf too, but I like his kimono, fits him, I just think it used to be more badass. But I agree about Wolfgang,,,, his old outfit wasnt it. He looks WAY better now.

seconded on Mac, I was really disappointed when I scanned him in. but I can’t think of anyone else I dislike the new clothes for.
Punchy and Bianca are both an A+ from me. Punchy looks so comfy in his little button up shirt and Bianca is much better suited to island life in the tie top than the down jacket she used to wear. Also loving Snake in an actual ninja suit instead of a zipper shirt.
In general, I am so impressed by and in love with the clothing aesthetic in this game. For the last 20 years villagers all had one shape of shirt with a pattern slapped on. Now they can have shirts, dresses, all with different meshes, not just a look like it was painted on to their torso. it just looks SO GOOD and I’m obsessed.
The only outfit I can think of that I miss off the top of my head is Zucker's flan tank
I like the new shirt too! But the flan one helps further the impression of him being takoyaki and I always thought it was super cute. I also kiiinda miss Static's melon shirt, especially since I have a custom-made figurine of him with it
I love his new outfit but the melon shirt looks really nice with the coloring of the lightning bolt on his head and the swirl on his tail! I just wish it still existed so I could give it to him and he'd wear both it and his new one.
As for ones I love, here's the ones I can think of atm--I'm going to try and limit this to as few as possible and after the first few I'll put them under spoilers so the post doesn't get all stretched out!!
Vivian honestly looks so much better than before in this dress, I already loved her but she looks so fabulous in it it's incredible.
Something about Poppy in the alpinist dress just makes me love her even more, the second I saw it I went "oh my god that's the cutest thing I've ever seen".
Marina's sweater made me go "holy crap what is that shirt called, I need to track that down in the game immediately for my character" as soon as I saw it, as did Julian's space parka which I can't find a good photo of sadly.
And from this point on, I'll spoiler them.
Static's outfit as mentioned earlier! He looks so fashionable I love it.
Snake looks even more ninja-like now!
Merengue's chef outfit is absolutely precious and perfect for her!
I wish I could've found a better screenshot for her, but Portia looks awesome in her new dress!
Colton is really rocking the prince tunic imo! I love how it has a cape, it makes him look so fancy and elegant.
And last but not least, I wanted to post a picture of Lily in her tropical dress because she looks so cute but I can't find a good one!
I tried to not put any that have already been mentioned on the thread!! I agree with the love for Wolfgang's. And I actually like Chief's new shirt because it just looks good on him tbh but I can get the disconnect with his new house design for sure. I also just wanna say that I think the ability for the animals to finally wear actual, realistic-looking shirts with sleeves and varying lengths and everything just helps a ton in making most of them look way better than before. Not that the shirts they used to wear looked bad, it's just that they somewhat looked like textures glued to their skin moreso than shirts haha. I'm now in love with going to Harv's island literally just to try different outfits out on them all.

Yeah, Marina's old shirt went nicely with the polka-dotted appearance of her tentacles, but the new one is too cute! Like Poppy's alpinist dress, it somehow boosted my love for her even though I already liked her before. Also, now that I've looked up Maple's new outfit I have to agree--I like the tree sweater and all but her old shirt is so cute!
