Furniture can finally be placed outside. Yay!! We can all finally have that front/backyard we've all dreamed of. But will there be a limit to the amount of furniture outside? Will only certain items be allowed outside? I'm super curious because the possibilities are endless if we can put any furniture item outside

i wonder what furniture outside means for public works projects. will they be discarded? rebranded? i can't imagine nintendo getting rid of them altogether.

if there was a limit to how many furniture pieces we can put in say, an acre of the map, that would really stink. will small furniture like potted plants count the same towards that supposed limit as bigger pieces like beds? would having a ton of furniture slow down the game and require a limit once that amount is reached? (i doubt it.)

Since the limit for public works projects was 30, maybe it will be something like that? Like a limit of how much furniture can be placed outside. If there was no limit, every single square of an island could be covered in furniture and NPCs couldn't even walk around. I estimate a limit of like 50 furniture pieces can be outside.

I'm hoping for a Happy Lawn Academy that will be less than pleased when I put an indoor couch on my lawn. I am totally speculating, but I would think PWPs would go more toward the direction of actual infrastructure projects in this game, such as building a town hall, museum, etc. It seems that general customization like outdoor items will go in the direction of an open world, Minecraft-like approach. I hope this is the case, as it will make everyone's islands extremely unique.

yeah, and we won't have to worry about where the town hall is when/if we pick a map

Exactly. However, it does mean that we will need some foresight in how we place homes around the island. This is extremely realistic--towns need some advance planning. If houses are unmovable, though, it might back some people into a corner if they weren't thinking about all the possible PWPs ahead of time. I could see this happening to me. It will be interesting to see how all these things are mitigated. An easier solution to this problem would be that you don't get larger numbers of villagers until you've implemented some expected PWPs like a police station and town hall.

I am thrilled we can place furniture outside, however...how will this affect if we want to catalogue stuff from other players towns or pick up items we bought from other players though...maybe I missed something?

Can’t wait for this game, I was so thrilled when they announced that furniture can be placed outside :) Everyone’s been waiting for this.

You can choose to drop items in leaf form (?) too! They show it on the Treehouse playthrough :)

I hope we can place them like sign posts rather than just easy to pick them up. And if you plan on having a cataloging party, they should make it like if we dropped items like from a furniture tree.

Oh, I missed that somehow! It will make dropping furniture for pick up a bit more time consuming but at least there is a way around it.

I'm glad we can finally place furniture outside, as this will make decorating our towns to be a lot of fun! Plus, everyone's towns will be so unique that I would love to visit them all. Hopefully there isn't a certain amount of furniture we can place or that only certain furniture can be placed outside. I actually wouldn't mind if there was a limit to how many furniture that we can place. I can imagine towns being a bit too overcrowded if there was no limit. So yeah, there might be, but I do believe we can place anything we want though. Doesn't make too much sense if we can only place certain things and not everything.
