Original vs custom?

I like to change their greetings and catchphrases to something I think suits them, especially if their original phrase gets on my nerves.
I have a monkey villager and my nephew loves monkeys but he can't say monKey, he says muny, so I made that her catchphrase. And Mira is a super hero so I made her greeting 'Halt, evildoers!' It's hilarious.

As far as houses go, it depends. If they have ugly stuff I replace it. If their house is great and suits them perfectly, I'll try to keep it as is.

One thing I do is buy the stuff they sell at Re-Tail and just gift it back to them xD

I change phrases but since the houses are fitting and pretty I try to not ruin them. I would give them some fitting new furniture if I wasn't too lazy / you can't order from the catalogue and get stuff the day they ask to bring them furniture.

I never catch or sell fish or bugs to them so they don't put those in their houses.

I give them phrases that suit them. For example, I have Poppy in my town and I've changed her greeting to "Holita amiguita" (Spanish for "Hi my little friend") and her catchphrase to "ardillita" (Spanish for "little squirrel").

I usually let them change their houses as much as they want, because I find it too stressful to keep an eye on the stuff they have at their homes and make it stay the same. Actually I always end up buying the furniture from them I like the most :P.
