Opinions on Scammers, High Chargers, etc.

this might be contrary to other people on the thread, but high chargers kind of bother me haha ^^" i love this community specifically because of how generous everyone is, it feels like everyone is working together to better their islands! when you get greedy, it kind of ruins the point of animal crossing, in my opinion? it's a relaxed, fun game where people can bond, not a game where you're trying to make as much profit as possible.

scammers are trash. ive dealt with one but it was over something so petty i kinda didnt care after a day.

high chargers i'm eeh about, it's just easy to ignore what they're asking for and finding the same thing for cheaper if you're patient enough. it's how i got marshal.

when it comes to raymond tho... well, ill just send a meme my friend sent me;

I've never been scammed and I can't say I've had much experience with high pricers because I quite literally cannot afford to get involved lol

High chargers are one thing, at least if you look around hard enough it's usually easy enough to find a reasonable deal unless the item is rare. But scammers are the worst. Literally cheating people out of an item or villager they want is horrific and I can't believe how many scammers there are out there.

I do think that the prices sometimes are a little too ridiculous. I don’t have 500NMT to spend on a chair, sorry 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I also think that it’s not really the seller that’s at fault as much as the people willing to pay those ridiculous prices. I bet that if no one was willing to pay that amount the prices would drop. But why lower them if people still pay?

Thankfully I’ve never been scammed. But I’ve read stories on here and it’s awful.

High prices can be safely ignored. If someone chooses to require a 1m entry fee to sell turnips, I vote with my feet. Plenty of people offer products / services at reasonable prices, and I choose to trade with them over them.

Scammers suck, I've been scammed before. I've never understood why people try to scam in Animal Crossing, of all things, but it just be like that sometimes.

I don't imagine anyone would actually have a kind opinion on scammers.

High chargers are a bit more difficult for me because it depends on the situation. Let's say someone got raymond in their town, but they decided they didn't want to keep him, so they made a thread here to sell him. It's not the seller's fault if people are coming forward on their own and offering crazy high amounts.

On the other hand if someone immediately is trying to set up a sale with a base price that's already starting crazy high, I mean I suppose that's their choice to do that. I wouldn't even try to participate in that, however. Same with people who try to charge hundreds of thousands of bells or multiple nook mile tickets just to visit their town for something basic. My thought about that has always been if it's going to stress you out to have visitors into your town to the point you feel like you have to charge people simply to visit, it's probably better if you just don't invite visitors into your town.

Ebay sellers upcharing things like amiibo cards, I'm completely against. Earning a small profit? Sure, that's fair. But selling cards for over 10x the amount you originally paid for that card, simply to take advantage of people in a broken market? Not okay in my opinion.

Fortunately because this community is so great, I've never encountered a scammer! I'm so grateful to all the people who leave negative feedback for bad players because it helps keep me safe. They're doing a community service.

I don't really mind high chargers. It helps that I'm not desperate for Raymond nor am I in any rush to get diys cuz I don't want to spoil the excitement of getting them through the game for myself. I also am lucky to have a small group of people I know irl that I play with, so we will always have a great turnip price to sell at.

So I realize that I'm in a very unique position to not care, but there it is. No-one is owed access to another person's island so if they are charging a certain fee that seems high, maybe that's what they need to charge to justify their time usage or prevent burnout. I just hope their approach makes them happy.

Scammers are an evil set of people, no doubt. But at least we're able to leave negative feedback as a warning, thankfully~
Also, I think that people who charge really high prices are just really funny LOOL They're good for a good laugh~ It kind of instills fear into me that people actually pay some of their high prices (like 10NMT entry to sell turnips on an island with a not-even-that-good price LOOOL), though. People that charge high fees can just be ignored, but again, they're super fun to laugh about HAHAHA

Someone tried to ask for 75 NMT for a single pagoda. Lol what? I was looking for two for my friend and the next person who offered said they had two and we ultimately agreed on 60 for both, agreeing the first person was nuts.

That's the only time I've dealt with an attempt of over-charging though. My friend used to use that one turnip trading site and he saw crazy stuff on there.
