I'm going to be attempting to make a town with different themes in different areas. I've been resetting for a layout for a couple of days now and I think I've found one that might work. I wanted one where most of the buildings were up by the train tracks because I felt the tracks would interfere with the "magic" of certain areas. I've taken a pic of the map and filled in the different areas with my ideas.

I'll also explain what I'm going for. So in the "Orchard" I will have Tangy and Apple living there with lots of orange and apple trees around their home. Next to that, below the train station and town hall, I wanted park benches, the picnic blanket, fountain, and similar pwps.

In the corner past Re-Tail, I'll have a "Sweets" Themed player house and below that Tia, Merengue, and Zucker will live in the "Gingerbread forrest." I'll do candy themed patterns on the ground and the trees will all be cedars.

Across the bridge i wanted the cafe by the ramp to the beach, and possibly might do a lighthouse, but not sure. In the bottom left corner will be Ankha and Lucky, with desert patters and Egyptian pwps. From that spot you can see the sandy beach, but not the water. I didn't want the ocean or river to interfere with the Egyptian desert look.

Above that, will be a princess themed player house by the waterfall. Then all along the river will be a fairytale forrest with whatever appropriate paths and pwps I can find. Julian the Unicorn, Phoebe the Phoenix, and Dragon the Dragon will live there.

So what do you think? Does the map layout look like it'll work for these plans? Do you think I've chosen good areas for my themes?

I think you've planned this out very well! :D Good call on having the official buildings out of the way, too.

I like that the orchard is in front of the town tree, so it's like the oldest tree in the orchard, in a way. And the park being in front of the train station is nice, because it's a developed area and would be an attraction for visitors arriving by train. The gingerbread forest and house area is great because cedars can grow there, and it has a private pond. The camp and cafe are in good, unique spots, and you thought out the sandy but waterless aspect of the Egypt area really well. And last but not least, it's cool that the princess house is in the magical forest, and I love that the magical forest is on its own little peninsula. It seems more magical and mysterious that way!

very good planning! i like the idea! i say you go with it, it seems very thought out and nice. :)

Sounds so cool! I'd be very interested in visiting once you have your DA set up! Can't wait to stroll through the gingerbread forest!^_^

Sounds like a fantastic town :), I'd also love to visit once you have a DA set up.

Very good idea, I had a thought of doing something similar, only instead of lots of sections I was going to do it in quarters. Didn't quite work out though :( instead I've done fairytale stuff on one side and a more zen feel to the other. I haven't got great imagination for creative stuff. Would love to see the dream address once this is completed, it looks like it's going to be amazing

Thanks everyone! So far the only change in my plans is the orchard. I've got Apple waiting to move in and for the life of me I can't get her to plot by the town square. I'm thinking the orchard will go on the bottom half of town, pretty much where the word "forrest" is. Just that little square section surrounded by river. So basically a bridge will go right under the picnic area and go straight into the orchard. The mythical forrest will just be to the left of that, by the waterfall.

One more thing i could use help on though. For my character living in the gingerbread forrest, i would love a "sweet" themed name. So far the two I've been considering are "Carmella" and "E.Claire". I'm wondering which is better or if you have any other ideas. Thanks!

Sounds pretty good. Don't over estimate how much space you have though because when you divide your town up into different parts it's surprisingly how little you have. Good luck with your town!
Also take care on blending your themes when they meet.

Looks great! I really think you hit the jackpot with the map honestly... I wanted a map like that but I settled after a few resets because I just wanted to start already :'D I like that Re-Tail and the town hall are close to the tracks and the town tree is in the corner, out of the way. Having the orchard in front is also a great idea. The only thing I wish for the mythical forest is that you could put more cedar trees in the region, but I think it's too down south. Interested to see how the completed town looks. Please do share your progress!
