Would it be alright if I made a villager's home made with custom furniture even if it was made with the same furniture? Example: Punchy wants an extra piece of furniture (currently missing the blue lamp). Would it be ok if I gave him a crystal blue lamp or should I give him a original blue lamp? What are your views on this?

You can give a villager whatever you like! Over time, you can try to give him lots of crystal pieces if you want to and see if you can slowly replace his set, if that's what you want to do. I've given Ren?e most of a set of refurbished kiddie furniture. The best pic I can find is back when she had just the bed, but if I can find a better pic with more of the furniture, I'll post it.

You don't have to worry about anything you give your villagers, unless you plan to sell them--and even then it's rarely a problem, as I've seen.
It's also a lot of fun to customise villagers' homes~ I've given Julian most of the princess furniture, because the colour scheme works so well with him and his house. Muffy has an afternoon tea set despite its rarity, because it matches her rococo/gothic theme so nicely. I only bother with permanent villagers, though.

Wow I'm impressed by these pictures! I was wondering this because I like to have my villagers original like they are when they move in (whether it's from a new game or through camping or someone here who kept them original) but after seeing this and thinking about, I'm giving him the crystal blue lamp! Thank you all

Glad these helped! For me it depends on how much I like their house to begin with. If it's a great place already, I'll either not give them stuff or will only give them furniture that fits their existing theme. Ren?e's place looked like a really inhospitable sandlot, so I tried to give her things that made the place look a little homier.

. I've been debating whether I should try making their houses cooler looking (the ones I don't like and that are just filled with fish and insects lol), keep them original (or try to make them go back to what they looked like originally).

Oh wow thats interesting! Now i'm tempted to have my dream villagers buy sets of furnitures so their homes look cohesive and nice like the kiddie set one!

I'd really like to see how everyone has been customizing their villagers houses, those who have been doing that. ^^. I was thinking about trying to have them use furniture that is said to match some of their preferences (listed in a guide to their birthdays and what gifts to give them), but when I looked up Puddles, there was nothing that was both her favorite style and color. :/ So, I'm thinking of just going with whatever I think suits her.
