Online Resort Island question.

I was just playing on the island and someone was trying to talk to me in Japanese. I felt bad not being able to respond because I don't have any Japanese characters. So I was wondering, is it possible to add other letters/characters on the 3DS/new leaf system. It would be nice to talk to other people in the game in more than one language if possible.

I'm sorry but unless you get a PAL 3ds you won't be able to write in kana to them :/ its a shame and many of us hope Nintendo will someday add the languages or stop making region locked consoles :c
Its all about money and business I assume...

Edit: Some japanese can understand romaji or at least will try to communicate with that and a bit of broken english. Some of them are very nice so just keep trying!

Thanks for the answer. It's a real shame that you can't talk to other people in multiple languages. You would think we would have an option like that if we can play world wide on the island.
